Tri Motor airplane at Chico Muni

Anyone know what the interesting looking tri motor airplane is on the North end of the ramp at Chico Muni? Saw it on Saturday while taxiing back to the runway for takeoff. Pretty cool looking old bird!!

Re: Tri Motor airplane at Chico Muni

How big, corrugated metal skins or fabric, any idea what engines?

The best known Tri motors are probably the Fords...which have corrugated metal skins.

A modern copy of the Ford was the Bushmaster, built in the 70s. A quick clue to the difference is that the Bushmaster had cowlings on their engines, the Fords didn't.

Stinson made two types: high wing and low wing, both were fabric covered, however.

A company named Kreitzer made a much smaller, all metal Tri motor, with Kinner radial engines...so a total of 300 hp.

My grandfathers Tri Motor Ford is owned and flown by the Kalamazoo Air Museum N8419. It was a treat to see it with my dad, he was telling stories of riding around in it as a kid with my grandfather. I sure would like to fly it.

There are also several Junkers Ju-52 low wing tri-motors out there:

It's definintely not a Ford or Stinson I would have known those ones. It's a military plane looks like WWII era or Korea. Has US markings on it and much more closer resembles the plane in the last post above this one.
