Trip West this June

The Tracy's and I are planning a trip west this summer. Leaving KSAR on the 4th of June. Here is a skyvector of a proposed route:

http://skyvector.com/?ll=43.13519912034 ... :A.K5.KSAR

As Bill Says "Looks about right to me. Fly west for few days, North for a couple day, then South east till you find the Mississippi River. Perfect"
I will be staying in Jernstetd for a couple of days to rent a car and drive to my Daughter's graduation in Seattle on the 16th. Then heading east.
We would love for any/all of you to join up for the trip, or a couple of days, or be around for a drop in. Just let us know!!

Diana:

Keep us posted on the dates of your itinerary when you get to UT and NM. Don't know how my schedule will be going then, but would be glad to make some suggestions on places to see.

Sounds like a great trip. Enjoy!!

Looks like a blast. And, holy cow, do you do detailed planning!

The grand canyon is only about 90 minutes out of the way. We found it to be *awesome* to fly over.

I would come a little closer to the front range of Colorado - even if you don't want to fly through the Rockies - they are spectacular.

Re: Trip West this June

You fly right over Warm Springs en route from Bruce to Graham. There is a pretty nice hot spring within walking distance of Warms Springs. I think Weatherby burned during last years forest fire season, but I haven't heard for sure. It used to be a cool strip with tall trees on all sides, now it may be not so cool. If you go a little east from Fairfield (good shakes and burgers at the place across the street) you can land at Picabo and PUSH your plane up to the gas station pumps for some mogas.

The only flight plan that we have is that Pokette has to be In Washington in time for the graduation.

I see that you have AIA Alliance NE on your trip. Will you hit AIA coming or going? I'm at SNY just south of AIA. If I knew what day you might be at AIA I would come north for a meet.

I would be happy to show you our little piece of heaven.
If you come this far you really should take a half day and fly down the Columbia River to Astoria. Turn south and follow the coast stopping at Seaside, Nehalem Bay, Pacific City (good food stop), Siletz Bay. Then back to Troutdale. I would be happy to take y'all to dinner.

Cheers...Rob

Your flight path is so close, it would be a shame for you to miss out on the Mission valley scenery and flying up the Clark fork river valley in Montana.

Re: Trip West this June

Would be great to catch up with you when you're in the area (Hood River to Seattle). Maybe get some flying in.

I'm sure there are several in the PDX/Vancouver area (myself included) that would put up with you (I mean put you up) if you needed a stopoff point on your travels to and from Seattle.
