First we stopped at a beautiful grass strip to camp, no facilities, but an open metal T-hanger to put the tents in. Then the wind came a howling.. and the banging started, and one of my tiedowns came loose, and the T-hanger started losing its metal panels... then dawn and everything was great for leaving...
The next night after a great day of flying and geocaching at all the Three Corners Bill could find we tried sleeping in the FBO at Clayton Colorado, where the lights came on with movement... not much sleep again.
Then off around Moriarty NM to avoid smoke from fires, made it to Nokia Dome in the heat of the day. It took me 4 tries to get a perfect landing... practicing GoArounds on the mesa.. no problem with any other landings. I'm going with the I was tired excuse!
Some numbers for those interested. 16 days. 70 hours. 350 gallons of 100LL. Average price $5.74/gal. 101 landings (I skipped a couple Bill did - to hot to take off again!). 1 GRADUATE!
