I've followed the instructions posted by Zane, but am getting the following error message: "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Any ideas what I'm missing? I'm pulling the image URL off my picassa web page. Help. wimper wimper..

Are you opening the image in its own page and then copying that URL? Not sure about PCs. I think you right click or left click to get that option. On a Mac you hold down control as you click on the image.

If that doesn't get it, hopefully someone that really understands this sh*t will be along shortly.

DP has it right too, Picasa isn't the most user friendly when trying to embed pics. With Firefox browser, right click on the picture, open in new window, copy url link, paste url link in between [img]....[/img], preview, submit.

In Windows 7 I open the specific photo from my Picasa web album, right click, select to view image info, and copy the address that's highlighted in the menu box. Keep in mind this only works from the Picasa web albums. In Picasa for Windows you should see a "web albums" link at the upper tool bar. The same is true for the Mac photo selection as described by Denali Pilot above except you'll click on your log-in at the upper right to see a drop down menu. Select web albums from that menu. If I view Picasa on my desktop (even when logged in) it doesn't provide a valid photo location and can't be inserted unless I copy that photo to the BCP photo gallery or another web based photo storage location (like Picasa web albums). BCP only allows URL insertions, not local files (Picasa on your desktop is local). I'm sure somebody can provide a better technical explanation but that's the gist of it.

I have the same trouble. I used my laptop to read the instructions and the PC to execute. I could get pictures into my gallery but never could get them into the posts. All that would show up in the post was the command line. Any chance on the New and Improved BCP Forum we could just get a "Add Image" button for all us technologically challenged geezers?

When I have that problem I save the picture on my hard drive, then upload it to my personal picasa account on the net. Works EVERY! time. Scott I can fly up and show you. Jerry I'm not coming to Utah.

FWIW. I did just try to post a pic I sent rob a few weeks back of a motor on a dyno but I could not get it to post,,, all I get was the........... {img} {img} thingie,,,,,, Rob.. can you post it for me ?

Take that cute guy with you, no he is still to young. Probably chew up the seat. I may go east if your off. I have to see if the wife wants to go somewhere 1st. Since I'll be going to socal while she works after the first of the year.

The fact that some of you are still having trouble means that you're not ready for the easy way. Only once you all have mastered the skill of URL image reference will I allow attachments.

The answer to Scott's question lies in the middle of the thread that Matt linked. I talked about getting the embed URL from Picasaweb. Also, there is a little video to watch.

I have trouble too. Sometimes the image size cannot be determined, and if I get past that part only the javascript location shows up between the two image do-hinkys. I like the solution presented above. Somehow the idea appeals to me of flying somewhere as one of the steps to get pictures to post up on BCP. It should be a requirement. Maybe I could be motivated to learn that way. Something to think about, Zane.

Rob, that's pretty marrow minded of you. I can't believe you don't want to come to Utah. It is beautiful and sunny and just passed 28 degrees, tonight is supposed to get clear up to 11! A lot better than the freezing Smog that's been here for the last week! I'm think I'm getting too old for winter.

May I offer a solution for dummies?

Go to photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Once you have an account, click on the upload pictures and browse thru your computer (mac or pc) and upload your photos...piece of cake.

Then, find your photo, click on the image url below it. It usually says "copied".. if it doesn't, do the control/C and copy it that way.

Paste the url in your post. Done. Finito. Over Rover. That simple.

This same thing works for smugmug, picasa, etc.... but photo bucket is ultra-simple and the price is right.
