Following this thread I decided that I would pass on buying a new Mini 5, and keep using my Mini 3.
And wouldn't you know, after working perfectly, and for no reason I can figure, the Mini 3 dropped dead, while at work, and I felt completely handicapped without it, So I was left no choice to get a Mini 5.
Its a cell version, and so far, after flying for a week with it north of Fairbanks, it hasn't had less then 4m accuracy, well out of cell service.
Maybe I got lucky, time will tell

Bought an iPad mini 5 a couple weeks back to replace my mini 2. Nothing exceeding either 12 ft horizontal or vertical accuracy with one exception. It is the cell/WiFi version and with both on, it lost the gps signal when passing Iliamna after I tried to send a text on the local EDGE network. I switched to airplane mode and the gps accuracy came right back. I’m really happy with it so far.
