Nice place. Did you have to get permission?

Re: Vaughn Ranch WA landing

Went first with a friend to meet Tim , who has a mechanic shop there.
Then went to visit him in my plane, so Tim takes a look at it.

Nice to see you used the "notch".

Answer to Z: It is a private strip and officially you need permission, but since Tim Boughner has a business on the strip you can visit his shop and no one will complain. WN13

It is best to contact one of the property owners for rules of operation and any safety operations at Vaughan Ranch

Good advice for ops at any airstrip that is not designated as public use.
After all, it is private property first and formost.
Some pilots I've talked to don't seem to get this as being applicable to airstrips, although they generally do get it when it comes to their own private property.

Re: Vaughn Ranch WA landing and take off

In forty nine years of flying all over the U.S. I have never landed on a private strip, desert road, or farmer's field where I was not welcomed. Forced landings, precautionary landings, or just stopping to pee on roads; I asked any person who came along if it was OK if I landed there. I think a lot of it is how you act.

Alternatively, it may have been a whole different country.
