So, long story short - a tv producer (CJ) was thinking about doing an airplane camping show and was searching youtube for possible hosts. He came across the videos I had posted of my wife and I flying and camping and contacted us. We collaborated on the show details, shot a pilot episode at Fry Canyon in Utah, and started pitching it to tv networks. And then holy cow, Fox in Boise said yes! You can check out a short promo on our website (which is still in development) at http://www.aotf.tv, and follow us on twitter @AdvntrsOnTheFly.
I've talked to Zane and Chris G about incorporating BCP and Shortfield into the show, because honestly, without you guys and these two great websites, we wouldn't have ever done this. I've learned so much on here about flying and places to go that it wouldn't be right to not give credit were it's due. I also want to use you guys as a resource and meet as many of you as possible in cool locations and put it in the episodes we air.
Here's the basic idea of the show: People send in ideas (via the website) of where to go and our producer picks one. Then we fly out and meet you there. We camp over night, go do whatever it is that's cool to do there with you - fishing, canoeing, mtn. biking, hiking, canyoneering, etc. and then off to the next destination. We are also going to hide gifts from our sponsors in geo caches on every episode, and we'll give out the coordinates at the end of the show for people to go find. I have final say as to what flying footage airs, so no fake suspense!
It's me, my wife Noreen and our dog Chuck with our 170b. I hope you guys will like it!
