Weather Station for home use

Well, my decade(s) old Lacrosse Technologies weather staion went TU the other day. It's been a good unit and now I am in the market for a replacement.

What are you guys using that live like I do, little ways from town and no real accurate weather forecasting in the rural areas.

Already did some nline searching and since I am not really a 'computer guy' have noticed a lot of them are geared towards wifi linking with one's computer and data. I don't really need an uber fancy setup but would like the data needed for flying such as wind speed and direction, pressure, temp, etc. Wife is suggesting the Davis Instruments Vantage Vue #6250. I'm thinking it may be more technological than I want to deal with. Set it up and look at the display is more my cup of tea! ;)

I was also looking at the AcuRite 01036M but after reading several reviews it seemed to have issues. Price is definitely cheap though!

Any suggestions? Thanks and Merry Christmas all!!

I had an Oregon Scientific for about 15 years before a freak hailstorm damaged the anemometer. Until then it worked well.

I just checked and they currently have their high end model on sale for $299.

I have the Davis system; it connects to the internet - I can use my cell on the ground or at lower altitudes to get temps, humidity, altimeter setting, wind direction and speed. Higher altitudes, no cell service. I like it but it’s a little pricey. It was especially handy when I was flying out of my pasture, rural strip several days a week for work. OTOH, a wind sock works pretty good, too!

Here’s a screen dump of the top 2/3rds of the screen:

I like the Davis systems. Their app works good and it's nice that others can log on and check the weather at your place if flying in. I dont have one but a few of my customers do, as well as the school just down the road. On my airport Alberta Ag has a very nice setup, takes the wind up high and down low and keeps track of way more stuff then I need to know. Currently trying to figure out if there is a way I can log into it directly and get immediate weather, as sometimes it can have a few hr lag on the website.

Re: Weather Station for home use

We use an Ambient WS 1400 IP and works as advertised. We can monitor weather from out of state or on approach to the home airstrip for wind direction and speed.

https://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WS-1002-ARRAY-WS-1000-Stations/dp/B076QJ1723/ref=sr_1_5?crid=11GBQ9JK7AJMM&keywords=ambient+weather+ws-1400-ip&qid=1576644286&sprefix=ambient+ws+1400%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-5

I don't think it was this way when I bought it a couple years ago, but apparently the Observer IP module is now sold seperately for an additional $51.
