Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Where did you fly today?

Hey Tomo, that looks like a good time. I learned to fly in a Quicksilver MXII and still fly one from time to time. I flew the GT 500 once and thought it wasn't so hot. That Auster is a cute old plane.

I laughed that your mum "knocked up some scones." In the US, "knocked up" is slang for getting pregnant. :)

It's got the Gipsy Major engine in it, and with the big skylight! It's side by side seating in the front with a little bench in the back.

This is my favorite time of year to fly. Weather was great all week but of course I chose the worst day possible to fly.

Tsek Hot Springs, aka Skookumchuk, aka St Agnes Well, just north of Skatin. Sketchy little one way bush strip. Weather getting there was no hell either, finally punched up to 8500' to cruise over from the coast between layers.

Got busy thinking about the landing set-up and forgot to get a "getting in" picture, but 175 magnum happened to have one in his album.

Walked over to the hot-tubs about a 1/2 mile back down the strip and had a good soak. Didn't see any grizzly tracks.

Air Nav Pro.

You can download the full EFIS synthetic vision database for most of the US as well as the elevation database for the side view. Plus you can get most of the sectional charts. I like the EFIS view, and it seems to work pretty well. Normally I just have my iPhone velcro'd on, but today I took the iPad for that really big (too big actually) view.

Here's the "composite" EFIS with the route info and the map "plan" view in the split screen:

Here's one where you can see the outline of the hill on the right on screen and in window. Lighting makes it difficult, I'll try for a better shot on a darker day or closer to nightime. I gotta tell you that on top of solid cloud at 8500, with the odd peak sticking through it gave good comfort to look at the synthetic vision and see all the landscape below. This picture was in almost good VFR down low.

Where did you fly today?

Had a two day break in the rain and got some rare PNW October sun. Got two days of glider towing in North Plains. It was pretty slow glider wise so I got to doing some playing in the Pawnee. Two days of slow flight, Tail wheels, grass and sun.... Good times. I am finding that the cockpit noise dominates my Lightspeeds though. My ears are still ringing

Re: Where did you fly today?

Made a run east up the Columbia River Gorge to my place in Madras. Had to winterize the home. The nights are getting cold. The wx was marginal, but doable.

Robyn Trethewey is a nice guy. We where working a helicopter out of there almost all summer last year. His 'off the grid' power station is pretty decent. He has a couple of cool old motorcycle's he was rebuilding. His family history in the area is fairly entertaining, and his stories about buying motorhomes, and the such. Lots of history there, and he loves airplanes coming and visiting, even though he doesn't fly himself.

One of the local gravel bars a week ago. They continue to be entertaining in part due to their ever changing size and shape as the water level drops  Image

Not much to look at compared to other stuff on this site, but I shot some video flying down Provo Canyon the other day.

Took a quick trip to PADL this week. Looks like winter is starting out there...

Sun getting low over the Nushagak River on the way to PADL.

On the way home today, pancake ice was floating down the river.

Our only snow came in a bit of a blizzard...wonder which way the wind was blowing?
