Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Thanks.
I'll be adding more in the weeks leading up to the Fly-in. Was out working on cross wind skills today. Last years event was a bit on the breezy side.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yesterday I flew our 182 with the Texas Skyways 185 hp engine from KROA in SW Virginia back to our home airport at KRMN in Northern Virginia. I dropped off my wife then continued on up to S37 in Pennsylvania. I dropped the plane off to have a paint shop address some corrosion issues and repaint the whole plane. While waiting for my ride home to show up, an ultralight ( one of the Kolb aircraft) crashed from several hundred feet on takeoff. There was a fireball at the crash site but the pilot was killed by the impact. It was a terrible end to an otherwise perfect day of flying. A reminder to always be vigilant - especially when things seem to be going well.

Haha that's great. Somewhere I have a bunch of digital photos of various flat Stanley's and Stanleyettes in various poses in my plane from over the years. My wife being the educator ;)

I still have a long way to go before I will be really comfortable with it but I like it more each time I fly.
Gusty winds and late afternoon thermals made for some fancy foot work yesterday. I almost didn't go but Caveman is coming up soon and I want to be ready for that if the winds kick up like last year.

Nice video S-12. Have never made it to Delores Point yet but made it into Gateway-Hubbard 2 years ago after flying past Delores Point. Am planning on Mack-Caveman this year. Maybe a stop at Delores in in the works.

Yeah, I'm still experimenting on camera locations that don't require some expensive fancy mount. The last video was just mounted on a cross bar by my head. The ones on the struts seem to work the best but I was just trying to mix it up a bit.
Going to try a different location today.

M6RV6 I was at 5,500 when I went by. Only thing I saw was a helicopter 10 miles to the north of SV down close to the ground. Not sure if they are shooting wolves in that area or not?

There are 4 Helo's working out of there on some exploration. Doyon put a 150 man camp in there end of Jan. They should be wrapping up here in the next couple of weeks

Re: Where did you fly today?

A little "IFR" practice on the way out to Mexican mountain.
Strip is in great shape. Looks like someone has been working on a little used strip north of Moab.
I've flown over it plenty of times but this time it looked very useable.
You could even taxi up to the Gas station in a pinch.
Green river was vacant as usual except for a single ramp mummy.
