Nifty place for a landing. Nice pics! So, what was in the restricted area?

Indeed, and what I really enjoy about this site! Meaning the broad range of flying experience of us all, both in the past and currently. From current ATP's to burned out old hang glider pilots, it's all here

Flew from King City to King city in our Ag-Cat 8) This old bird doesn't get much use around here so every once-in-a-while I take her out to knock the dust off and get the juices flowing. Had a little weather coming in today but I was flying around in the preceding calm...window down and smooth air, it was a perfect morning to fly...

The restricted road goes to the airport. One of the places where you need permission to land. Cool spot!!

Hey Ozy:

Sweet as!!! =D>

Looks like Mylestom, right between two of my favorite spots on the coast: Southwest Rocks and Sawtell, south of Coffs. Where are you keeping the new mistress??

Re: Where did you fly today?

G'day Yellowbelly, I grew up at the Rocks and Cresent Head, surfing away a misspent youth  never thought I'd be flying over these places, ya gotta love what life can give. The Maule is at Casino away from the salt air, had a lot of trouble with the motorglider and corrosion when I hangared it on the coast. You were spot on with your geography. The Maule and I are busy landing all the local strips around the Far North Coast, will post some videos. We're developing a mutual respect for each other.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I did a one hour aerobatics flight this morning which was a lot of fun. We did stalls, steep turns, spins, loops and rolls. It was my first time doing the maneuvers, just learning. I was surprised with the spins, I think the training is worth it just to practice spin recovery.

I think next tuesday we will have some video, the training was in a decathlon.

Re: Where did you fly today?

On the way into town to do a photo run over yesterdays crane job, I got distracted and decided to drop into one of "my" mountain side sites. Unfortunately the traffic was so bad there I had to abort.Image After making the photo run and heading home, I diverted towards a different site, only to find some guys wearing some really garish clothing (bright orange) holding some sort of weapons, so no go there either. Lastly, I flew by a third site, at close to 9,000', with no plans to land this one as I was out of time, and saw I was being watched by mounted FAA personal, or maybe I'm just paranoid?Image

Re: Where did you fly today?

No flying today but I had the chance to see one very cool plane on it's way from LAX. Tons of people but it was worth the hassle. I wish I had time to see it move down W. Manchester.

So Rob, you landed at Wohlford and didn't call me... I'm a five minute flight from Wohlford and been there countless times for breakfast... sort of like landing on a Aircraft carrier.....

That was a spur of the moment trip. Dave had never been there but had word that PP were welcome. I'll be back in January let's do it then.

You coming to The Bacon Strip today??

Cheers

Re: Where did you fly today?

no got a wedding to go to up by L A .. Wohlford is a good one... they don't want students or new pilots trying it but they welcome most of us into there... they don't want takeoffs to the east over the trailers, so we land west and take off west.. THe hangar at the west end is owned by a guy with several planes.. and there's a nice Maule in the hangar second from the end on the south side..just below the west end there's a paint ball park that is pretty popular with the paint ball set and occasionally the Seals use it..along with the various swat teams in the area...

Teenagers, hard to keep their attention. Took my youngest out for a hotdog. Let him sit up front and do the driving. Beach landing, fire, cut some sticks for the 'dogs. Put a couple of boxes of .22 into the cans we drank, then backhauled the shot-up cans to recycling at home. Just another Dad trying to get through the day...

Re: Where did you fly today?

A bunch of ultralight pilots usually get together of a Sunday and head somewhere for the day of flying and fun. I have been rather busy lately so haven't been able to join in, but got a nice surprise this afternoon when I got a phone call saying there were 6 aircraft inbound in 10 minutes and is the airstrip right to land on! It was, so I go and drag my plane out to go and meet them in the air and lead them in - more fun that way! 15 minutes later 7 aircraft had landed and the story telling started... My Mum is amazing and knocked up some scones (okay, cake with jam and cream on top for you who don't know Aussie lingo... )

Was a great ending to a great day!

Aircraft that were present was a J1B Auster, GT500 Quicksilver, MK1 Fisher Drifter (80hp), couple of 582WB Drifters, Couple of Airbourne trikes and my little Solitaire. Photos aren't the best as there were just taken from my phone!

Re: Where did you fly today?

What's the engine in the Auster? We (as you know) call those "Taylorcraft" and that one appears to have the tandem configuration maybe? With BIG skylite?
