I have always wondered if that was a true story. The Forest service used to give out a Comic book to kids about beavers parachuting in to restore habitat. These beavers didn't use boxes though, the comic pictures were of each one in a little beaver parachute and harness floating down under the airplane.

We all know that it's pretty wild in Idaho, right? :)

Re: Wildlife Biologist/Pilot at work

We had a neighbor who dropped fish for the Idaho F&G, and supplies to jumpers all over N Idaho for the USFS. I vaguely remember him saying something about dropping martins into the New Perce to try and increase trapping production.

My family seemed to get wrapped up in that stuff. We sometimes had multiple birds of prey in rehab in the back yard, where my oldest brother was then a falconer for the Idaho F&G while still in high school. Cow hearts and livers in the fridge. The Idaho F&G called us one day, and a 5mo old moose cow arrived in the back seat of VW bug to put in our back lot where it recuperated for another 6 months. I was always the first one home from school in first grade and I fed it a gallon of milk every afternoon and most mornings, and she got shots and milk at night too.She would come to my window and mew every morning as I was getting up.

I imagine my parents would be arrested for child endangerment today. I loved it.
