BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

So..... Has anyone noticed that the amount of posting about day to day flying and excursions has been diminishing?

It seems like there are a lot less trip reports, pictures, and video's popping up here. Did everyone quit flying so much? Or is it just Facebook and Instagram getting all the airplay? There are a few here who post on the regular about daily/weekly/monthly excursions, but overall, it would seem the volume is lower.

I admit, I am guilty of posting a lot more pictures on Instagram than I do here. I try to balance everything out though and post both places.I guess it is the instant gratification of the "likes" that has me there more often. I don't have Facebook, so I can't see what's happening there.

What say you? Did ya'll quit flying? Or just getting/giving your fix elsewhere?

I've been noticing the same thing! I'll try to post more but I haven't been flying much lately. When I have been it usually isn't anything too exciting.

I agree, its been pretty slow around here. I guess everyone is over on Spacebook arguing about the price of Titanium Cubs and how dangerous off airport landings are with no VASI. I try to contribute regularly because I really enjoy reading everyone elses posts, even if its just a trip around the patch. Keeps the ball rolling.
Here's pics from a few recent flights:

I think it's Facebook and the like.

What some of you guys don't realize is guys, like myself, that haven't flown in a long time enjoy seeing pics from anything. Even a boring cross county in a C150. May not be worth a full trip report but I think it's worth posting a couple pics.

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Uh...it's winter time?
Less favorable weather, generally speaking, so less flying?
Usually that increases posts, but maybe everybody's trying to get caught up with their money-making so they can spend it all on Xmas gifts.

One local forum I've participated on for years (pacificnorthwestflying.com) has slowed way down over the last year or so-- someone from that site started a facebook page (flights above the pacific northwest) and a lot of the old PNF regulars apparently post there now.

It seems like eventually facebook will be the only place for this kind of interaction.
I resisted computers & internet too, and cell phones, but eventually ended up with all of them.
So I suppose I'll eventually end up on FB.
But I've managed to avoid it so far.

Friggin cold. 7 degrees and 6 inches of snow on the ground here. But that's not the real reason. My plane is torn down for an annual and installation of an EI CGR-30P - and I had to rebuild a jug. Hopefully before the end of the year for me.

BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Facebook definitely scratches the itch for people who need some attention from everyone they know. But think about how forums like this continue to be a resource for content long after the thread has slipped off the front page. Good luck using Facebook for that. And most of the replies tend to be from real pilots with (usually) useful information. Instagram is pure visual candy.

Everything in its right place. Many of the guys doing real bush flying haven't ever posted because they can't, or don't care. It takes a certain type of individual who wants to discuss these topics, whether to solve a problem or to share an unsolicited solution (god love you.)

BCP will not always be the thing you remembered from a few years ago. It continues to change and is constantly in flux. I think too that people in general reach an apogee of sorts for sharing. Or they did and caught a bunch of flack from the peanut gallery. Or maybe they see too much off-topic bullshit and get turned off. Maybe they're tired of my bullshit. Who knows?

I've been in limbo between wheel season and ski season. We finally got enough snow last weekend, and then the mercury tanked. -40 here yesterday. At least the skis are on now. That day it was only -20.

I haven't been out to the airport for three weeks! Either travel or weather or work interfering! :( :?

Only outdoorsy stuff (besides shoveling snow and blizzards) was a Pheasant/Quail run with my wife's family in central Kansas. 8)

My new plane has either been in transit or maintenance since September but we've only had a few flyable days since Oct 15 anyway.

My post rate will rise dramatically when the plane and weather cooperate. Which may be May.

Hell, I'd post trip reports but I'm just a thirteen-year-old internet imposter. Surely some of you have figured that out by now.

I had to look this word up, as I've always been under the impression it meant sour, or distasteful. Turns out it's the opposite. I think maybe I was confusing it with Bukowski.
