BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

That's just crazy.
IMHO it's much more visually appealing than the 2017 cover photo.

Oh well.

Who shot the photo? It's very well done. I'll be happy to feature it in my next "Thousand Words" series if that's okay.

Okay, almost 1 month since the last flight! Gull was freezing up today so Rory and I went exploring.

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

My wife passed her FAA written exam a few weeks ago, so I took her up today for a flight so that she could pay attention to the things she was learning in flight school. I've mostly been flying a Cub the past two years, but took a spin in my mother's 172 today so that my wife could ride shotgun and see all of the instruments and pay attention to what I was doing. Nothing too adventurous, but it was good to be in the air today, and it's exciting that we'll be a two-pilot family in the near future!

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

I've thought the same thing. Flying has been a little slow this fall for me, but I did manage to get out and do some flying over the last few weeks and posted in my Grasstrippilot thread. Since then, my flying has been the Jamaican shuttle from New York! It was pretty coming back into JFK yesterday though.

Army blowing up old munitions at Restricted Area 4811, near Hawthorne, NV. I've flown by R4811 maybe 600 times and this was only the second time I've seen a plume, and the biggest. That was from Cirrus on my way down to meetings and Christmas party in Henderson. Flying back today ahead of more weather.

The skiing around Tahoe is still pretty marginal, so maybe I'll go with that suggestion to land at Gravelly Valley and mt. bike.

Were you flying people out Mark? Or up there fighting the fire?
It was a doozie for sure.

BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Well, I am glad to see everyone is still alive and kicking out in the land of BCP! Facebook hasn't swallowed everyone yet!

Maybe I should change the name of this thread. Should this be the "Where did you fly today" v2?

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

Those pics were taken about 6:30pm that day. We started evacuating people from the shop about 1:30pm. I work for Finning, the Cat dealer. I finished getting all our people out and shutting the shop down in town. Our company corporately made the decision to get everyone out, some competitors had their employees stay to supply equipment and parts - but we erred on the side of safety. It is amazing how fast a fire can move in a matter of hours. By the time I was ready to leave town the roads were bumper to bumper and there was a good chance the highway was going to be blocked. Also a good chance a slight change in wind would shut the airport down. I was the last A/C other than bombers/choppers to get out. Most people left there planes and drove out. The average 4 hrs to Edmonton took 24 hrs in some cases, I was home in 1.5. Not a day i will ever forget.

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

I'm still flying, just not posting. Made it to Chile, thankfully a decent general aviation environment!
No facebook for me. Instagram which is not very 'insta'. Blog running about three or four weeks behind.
If someone more techy than me can talk me through how to post pics without the third party hosting site then I could throw some up for y'all to see.
Stay strong through the winter boys and girls.

Rez, I wondered where you got to with absence of the blog.
Guess I'll have to hear it at a campfire some place, next summer......unless you settle down in Ushuaia.

Ok, I give it a shot and put some pics up in the 'Rezrider's gone on a trip' section.
Thanks for the instructions!

We're still out here, Chile is awesome so far. Blog will be updated eventually but stories around the camp fire would be better! Stay tuned.

Re: BCP- 7500 Users And A 4K In a Pear Tree

I filmed my last trip home in 4K just because I never have tried 4K.

Frame Rate is 12fps. Makes for an incredibly crisp picture albeit a bit choppy. I am happy with the result, but I think until I buy a gopro that has a higher 4K framerate I will stick to 1080- 30fps

I give you-

Re: BCP- 7500 Users and No One Flying?

I promise I will get working on it when my airplane is finished! Besides no one wants to hear about me flying back and forth between the big paved airports in an airplane that isn't even mine :P

I promise that there will be a write up of my first flight in my 185 when I fly it back home. Then there will be another when I fly it back to its original home down in Texas.
