I saw a handy looking jack, for a 180/185; that I thought would be useful in changing from skis to wheels. I thought I saw it on this site, not long ago, but can’t find it through the search function.

As I recall it utilizes a bottle jack, and offsets far enough from the wheel to allow for the skis.

Does anyone know the jack I’m referring to?

This reply doesn’t speak directly to your question, but after fiddling with every possible teeter-floooper over the years, this is BY FAR the best airplane jacking arrangement that I’ve found. Unlike a compression jack, It’s super stable and the shop crane has myriad uses. Also seems like it could work with skis. Only disadvantage is it doesn’t work out in the field too well.

Not super close up shots, but that’s how I do mine with spring gear:

About halfway down the page. I use a simple friction hitch (maybe a Prusik? I can’t remember exactly how I tied it last time.) with some Amsteel cord between the gear leg and the engine hoist.

I can dig out an old hard drive to find close-up shots if you want. I need to get it out and put them on our photo cloud anyway.

No closeup photos handy. It’s just a 2000 lb strap with a single full wrap around the gear leg. It cinches down tight and is 100% stable, which compression jacking arrangements are not. Quick, easy and confidence inspiring.

Of those pictured I'd say this is the only one that stands an outside change of working for a change from wheels to skis. All others don't like they would provide adaquate clearance for the width of a straight ski or wheel ski

This works well for bushwheels and skis. It’s pretty slick and it seems like I’m usually changing on a muddy ramp.

This is a readily available 6 ft tow strap, wrapped around the gear leg, inside the brake line.

Safest, most stable way I have found to change tires.
