Cessna 180 jack

Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?

It will never work for wheels to skis or vis versa as Aqua was asking about in the original post

It's been through several owners since, but my friend Bela owned that 180 for about 10 years.
It's a beauty!

No pricing info on the website, but they all look expensive.
And mostly they're a one-trick pony.
Optimum would seem to be an overhead chainfall (or whatever) & seaplane lifting rings.
Lacking that, I like the engine hoist--nice thing is that it's useful for other stuff too.

Its simple enough to fill out the inquiry form on the website. I am confident that the owner will respond to answer any questions you have.

Re: Cessna 180 jack

After having researched and tried many methods I'll pile on. The safest and most efficient way to lift a Skywagon to change wheels is with a strap and a hoist. I swapped my wheels yesterday and had no issues.

Autozone cherry picker with some spliced dyneema cinched low on the leg, did one wrap around the leg with some of that rubber matting you use in kitchen cabinets because I’m OCD on these things, all in was like $200 and if you’re a car guy you probably already have a cherry picker, so then it’s like $15

This works well for bushwheels and skis. It’s pretty slick and it seems like I’m usually changing on a muddy ramp.

Who makes this?

This would be nice to have in the duffel bag on the plane, could probably use a car jack and this to swap a tube in a pinch

Two more options shown here. The most cost effective and portable option is to take 2 blocks of wood (2x4 minimum), drill 2 bolt holes on each one, install 2 bolts of appropriate size to "sandwich" the gear leg at the location of your choosing. Tape the grip area of bolt so not to scratch the leading and trailing edge of the gear leg when they ride up against it. For style points, notch the corner to form a horizontal flat of appropriate size for your bottle jack and lay a flap of rubber over the contact points of blocks with gear leg. It will slide up to the point where the bolts contact the leading and trailing edge and can go no more. I used this for years for ski changeovers until I finally fabricated one of steel. Now I use the options pictured.
