And that's just the BBQ.

If we send Gump, I'll go along as his chaperon and try my best to keep him out of trouble.

I dunno Bumper. Our grey beards might clash with with CC's long blonde hair.

I think he's actually being judged by his videos and the cavaleir attitude he has in them (which is all we know about him). We're just making fun of his hair and clothing. But that's why most of us don't post pictures of ourselves on here because we'd be on the "make fun of" list too  8)

We're still looking for a mole, by the way, to get the real inside scoop by taking the course! Interested?

Welcome to the forum.

Re: Colorado Mountain Training

I saw him in person yesterday at the Copperstate Flyin walking thru the vendors tent, if I hadn't read about him on this forum and seen his picture, I would have thought that he had just parked his shopping cart outside of the tent and was going to hold up his "Any Spare Change Will Help, God Bless" sign.

Exactly. He's not exactly shy about tooting his own horn in his videos and on his web page, so there's no reason to be shy about poking fun at him.

If he's good and the real deal, more power to him.

I flew with some of the best pilots on the planet in Kotz and Barrow. But there was a very good reason they flew there and were never allowed to go out in the real world. They were.... How do I say it... A "little" bit rough around the edges. Uncouth. Ummmmmmmm, knuckle dragging Neanderthals. Think of the cowboys of the Old West, out on the range for months at a time. That was us. I mean them.

Who knows. We still need someone to bite the bullet and find out about Bushair and CC Pocock.

HaHa...I'm game if you guys cover the cost. I dug a little deeper and I guess he is quite impressed with himself, so I withdraw my defense...he could probably use a good ribbing...

Never seen or heard of this guy -looks like he survived Africa back country flying I tend not to judge a book by it's cover,Maybe he was just having a bad hair day.Mike Donneley lives down in Colorado Springs(Mocking Bird airport) and does instruction including back country in his 56 182. Seeing "CC " picture on his web site appears he standing in front of "T-41" aircraft -near 182 performance in 172 air frame.

While it my be a T-41 its one of the 0-300 145hp versions, not the IO-360 210hp. I have some time in a 210hp T-41 and its a good performer.

On the other hand, they charge $90 an hour wet for a C172 and $140 for a C182. Costs me darn near that much to fly mine.

Maybe he's the real deal, and has some good experience to pass on. Maybe his deal is taking lots of pics of himself, and videos of low passes with pretty girls sitting next to him....

On second thought, I want to do that. Buyer beware. Maybe one of the CO flyers on here can take a peek and give a report.

I am not seeing any pricing for the CO/AZ courses. From the Facebook page looks like he has been canceling. Guessing just offering to train in rental or your aircraft.. who knows.

I'm not sure where it went, but when this was first posted, I think the course was in the $800 range, which included lodging and food AFAIR. I considered it - but the schedule of the montrose course didn't work for me. I figured it would be entertaining at least - and would take one for the team - but the more I think about it - the team is doing pretty damn good by itself. There are more than a couple of highly experienced backcountry pilots/instructors here in town with me - even a South African who has figured out how to shower and wash his hair...

Re: Colorado Mountain Training

Haven't had any experiences with CC so I can't comment. But you guys in CO already have a great resource. Same guy that posted the instructional videos on this site (under instructional videos, see the 3 "Backcountry Aviation" videos),

His website is

http://learntolandshort.com

He is one of the few instructors that I know that will instruct off airport.

Great resource in your backyard if your interested.

Re: Colorado Mountain Training

Since there seems to be some interest in mountain flying clinics, without pyro and Crocodile Dundee types, I challenge instructors on this site to join with me to pitch a free mountain flying clinic. Donations could go to BCP or charity of choice.

DANG!!! If I wasn't pressed for time right now I would take you up on that! Learning anything new about flying is always good, but being able to hunt in Africa again would be awesome! ;)

Colorado Pilots Association already has mountain flying clinic--not free, though, but it is open to all pilots--$185 for CPA members, $200 for non-members. It's typically held at KBJC twice a year, early June and early September. Here's some information: http://coloradopilots.org/mtnfly_class.asp
