maulewaco wrote:Whee this is one reason why I wanted to share my time and money. Cessna and Maule are just different airplanes. If I wanted to Just jump from strip to strip lightly loaded the maule would be the one. Kinda like a rock crawler you take to the hills on a trailer. If I had to spend that kind of money on a Maule being I already been there done that I would now go experimental. I do not have the time to build a complete airplane and want parts on hand. I bent a plane in the BC once and was able to fly parts in to fly it out with a ferry permit. So being able to fly someones C-180 really opened my eyes on what will work for me now and down the road value. I did not post my experience to bash either aircraft, only to give real data and information from real time and money spent with changes that slapped me in the face.

maulewaco wrote:Well I sold the M7. I sold it for the reasons to me for what I like. I like speed, I also fly a Cessna T-210 so getting some where fast is not a problem. Most of all I like well balanced and value and (what if's!) More on that later. I researched Cessna 180's and like what a H model had and went out and bought one.

Yeah, if Rob can land his Maule at Simmons then anybody can. I think the real question is how would a Cessna have fared after Rob's 2013 landing at "High Boy?"

Simonds is such a beautiful place! Very nice maule pictures. It looks like it was a little greener than when my brother landed his stock 182 with 8's on the mains and a 6 on the nose. I'm pretty sure he had a 175# passenger with him also.
Granted this is not a 180 per se but as all superior tailwheel pilots know.... if a 182 can do it obviously a 180 can, right?
