..Someone said the show is over now - Crap! We could have made some great TV together, me and Ariel. World's greatest TV show product tie-in in aviation history! She reaches for the flap handle and disappears behind the 180 panel, and the instructor starts screaming "hey where'd you go Ariel... who's flying the plane?!?" And then the voice-over announcer saying "The Twetos have placed an emergency call to an inventor from Hollywood, and brought him in to modify the airplane so Ariel can see the runway..." And then I'd step out of a limo in the snow wearing an Armani suit with two blondes on my arms. Ahhh it would have been great TV ... even you hard-asses on BCP would have loved it!

How about if an inventor from Hollywood made an emergency call to Aerial Tweeto and got her to pose in a demo picture using the EZ Flap handle? It would make a great full size poster to hang over your booth at shows and not a bad new avatar either.

Also, I would like to be mentioned on the bottom of that poster as an associate producer.

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

I checked this week and another gold show starts in that time slot... Bering sea gold or something like that... no Flying Alaska...so it must be done.... :(

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

I participated in the AOPA webinar on Cold Weather Ops yesterday. John Ponts was on it from Flying Wild Alaska. Interesting to hear him talk about some of the techniques they use to deal with the cold weather. There was an amusing bit about blocking the oil cooler inlet with duct tape, which many of us use, but I think it threw Bruce Landsberg. Was anyone else on the webinar?

Do you have any idea what someone in a TV nouveaux fame position like that would try to charge for appearing in someone's advertising? I read somewhere that the one of the people from that awful Jersey Shore reality show got $20K just to show up at some club's party once, a far cry from becoming the mascot for a comm'l product. The entourage for Ms. Tweto would have her charge five figures or better to be a model for a product.

To be honest, for this audience and customer base I probably would have done better to use somebody like R. Lee Ermey instead of a girl... but he probably charges a fortune for his pretty face too :)

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

Back to the original topic - There's an article in this month's AOPA magazine about the Twetos and the show. Shooting of the next season would commence this summer if it gets picked up again. It should, it's the second most popular show on Discovery. (Second to the ridiculous gold mining moron show.)

The gold mining show is like a train wreck, you dont want to watch it, but you just have to so you can see what the jack asses do next.

I too had to remember my first solo as Ariel was doing hers. I never get tired of seeing the faces of people as they shut down and climb out after a first solo!

After I watched that clip it reminded me how infectious a smile can be.

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

Anybody have an idea how much $$$ Discovery pays the Twetos/ERA to be on that show. The mag article says the filming is pretty much 24/7 for 3 months which I am sure takes up loads of their productive time...
Just curious.

Based on what other shows talent are getting I would say about $150K per episode.

Well...I hope it comes back too. The Alaska Gold Rush guys are fun to watch too. But I'm not so sure about Bering Sea Gold.

Re: Flying Wild Alaska

Hello Backcountry Pilots,

I watched the series "Alaska Wing Men" on the National Geographic Channel at a friends house last night. This show is way better than Flying Wild Alaska on the Discovery Channel. Personally I'm really not that interested in watching Ariel dba: Bimbo make out soloing an airplane out to be such a traumatic event. The flying is pretty much limited to Cessna 207 and 208s flying from airport to airport. I found the variety of aircraft and types of flying much more interesting on the Alaska Wing Man series.

Just my two cents.
