Lurkers - 2023... Its your time

(Time to embarrass my buddy w/whom I just flew all over SE AK with...)

Ladies and gentleman, meet buddy from AK. He is a great BCP pilot, but he has a problem... He is a lurker. He checks the board every day. He reads, and reads, and reads, but never contributes. So why not post?

At the Airman's show last weekend we met tons of amazing folks, many many many of them read the board, but only a handful were contributing members. I'm sure this is true for a huge part of the planet. What I have learned over the past few years is that we have a great bunch of members, and getting to meet so many of them last weekend confirmed it. Unlike some of the other aviation boards, this is a truly unique and open community. I know I can speak for Zane when I say that all are welcome.

Fly a Cherokee 140 on pavement but dream of bush tires... Contribute. Fly a 777 but lose yourself on those long legs staring down at the ground wishing you were 40' rather than 40,000... Contribute. Still working on your private or TW endorsement? Contribute. Are a kick ass lady pilot but think there is too much testosterone... Put us in our place and contribute!

If you spend your time lurking, suck it up and join. Buy yourself one of the new fancy hats to show your support and start posting. You will be welcome!

Yeah Larry, it's time to start adding your pearls of wisdom or Greg (not me) is just going to continue to razz you. Well....I think he will do that anyway :D

It's sure was great meeting everyone at the Airmen's Show.

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Ha! Great thread, flew the 170 to my secret squirrel spot today and met Earl (husky driver) from Utah today at U02, he was ferrying a 152 from Washington to Afton, Wyoming. Always cool to meet new (to me) pilots and hear a little of their story.

It all looks good, "from a distance".

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Larry's forgotten more than most of us know about flying machines.

Come on Larry!

Zane can you save the screen name " Larry the Lurker " for him when he comes around?

Great post Greg and I fully agree.

I often find it amazing that a member will post a great thread, it will be viewed almost 1000 times, and only 8 people will comment. There are so many valuable members and lurkers with a wealth of knowledge that would be a huge asset to this community if they only shared their insight.

I look forward to learning from them.

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Come on all you lurkers, don't be shy. Don't worry, no one will poke fun at you. Look at Greg, putting it out there, sharing with us tales and photos of the restoration of his static display (oops).

Come on guys and gals, help us out, you've got to be tired of seeing my 185 on the home page. Of course it does actually fly. I mean it wasn't towed into those flowers (oops).

And Larry the Lurker, what's the story behind that photo? Can Greg really fly? I see the camera mounted, you must have vide, heck I've had my camera for nearly a year now and have done nothing with it, haven't even mounted it. Don't even know how to turn it on. Help us out here.

Yeah, come on Larry!

My plane's got small tires and a plush interior, my flying skills are positively average and I've never even been to Alaska, yet I post here! You can do it! :D

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Finally finished the pre-registration novel. I found that secret password on the third try. I must need to work on that reading comprehension. I even tried to search password but the author was way to clever and foiled that plan...

Been lurkin for a while. Some of the resent Cessna builds with photos have been pretty cool to see... Hurt my mechanic bone seeing the rough sheet metal work on that ramp mummie 180 eeek!
Anyways im Matt. Work at Merrill full time mechanic-in on these flying machines. Hope to be at the Valdez fly in tomorrow with the family and my green for sale super cub. Cant decide on a 180 or an M7.
and sheesh Larry whats your deal...

Re: Lurkers - Come Out Come Out Wherever You Are...

Welcome Matt!!

I think it's great to have people/pilots from all over join in. Shouldn't matter what type of flying or what you fly. Just really interesting to read and see all aspects of aviation on here.

I too have met lurkers from all over the country. I have always encouraged them to sign up and contribute.
