The mats can come in all thicknesses... What I am using is super thin and light. I was a bit off with my "2" lb. I just looked up the weight of the floor I installed in the C170. It was 4.7lbs total. Still pretty damn light. Others may argue its not enough padding, but I found it fine. I will weigh the 180 mat when it goes in.

Finally got the test panel from Avion today (that's a whole long story in itself ) Heading down to the hanger for a test fit. Goal was to have a nice simple panel. The MVP-50 (upper right) was able to eliminate tons of stuff so it will be very clean and light.

Very cool. Looking forward to seeing it in the bird.
Now that I'm finally wrapping up my interior - my panel project starts next. I'll have just a few more holes then yours (like twice as many probably).

Bigrenna, thanks for the info on mats. I called Aerofloor and they said 9 lbs per square yard. Doesn't seem right either, seems like it would take a couple square yards to do a skywagon floor. Interesting you mention different thicknesses, they didn't mention. I'll have to ask them. What thickness did you use?

They sell four or five different products and some are quite thick. They do the material for the new Cessna floor. This has a thick closed cell foam backing that is nice and comfy and deadness sound, but is heavy. They also make some of the diamond plate style that others here have used. These too are very heavy. I will try to get my sample kit back and take some photos.

Fit the panel test blank yesterday. Needs a bit of trimming and slight changes, but we're on the right track...

The panel looks great Greg. Keep us updated on what you find out from Aerofloor.

This is what I am using. Its called "Aerofloor DOT" purchased from AIP Source.
http://www.aipsource.com/prodcat.aspx?Id=14&page=8024Super thin and light weight. Comes in different colors. I went with grey. Sells by the yard and is 54" wide which is plenty (skywagon cabin is about 38" wide at the floor.) I ordered 4 yards which will be enough.
Here are images of the load surface, back, and its thickness.

Thanks for the Aerofloor pics, that's great. I didn't realize it has some kind of fabric backing vs. just rubber, I think I like that idea to let moisture breath out vs. getting trapped. I've got some samples of the "Loncoin" coming in, looks like that's what you have?
Nice looking panel layout BTW, that's what I'd like to do. My 55 has the smaller panel but I have seen layouts where this would work, although a little more cramped on the left.

Correction, looking at the website I do see "Aerofloor DOT" but doesn't look like it has the "coin" pattern you show on yours?

The Loncoin has much larger patterns. The dots on mine are only 3 or 4 mm in diameter. I also think Loncoin is way heavier.
The weight of AeroDOT is 30 oz per sq yard or 1.87lbs per sq yard.

Thanks, that's much better on weight. Guess I'll get some new samples. Thanks for the help, hope to return the favor sometime but will be hard to get to something you haven't already done

Really good progress today... damn near almost ready for painting the interior. Prep prep prep prep...... So sick of anal prepping. But we are almost over the hump.
Pulled it out in the sun today and got a bunch of sanding done inside. Cant wait to start getting it back together.
