Did you subtract the weight of the chocks?

Re: Project Retro Wagon - 180A

Awesome! At least your close to flying. I'll have to get out that way sometime. It will be interesting to see the weight of my 180 winter project. Didn't do any stripping of weight, more like adding it. Ha ha. Just trying to get the gear lined up now, toe in and camber.

Re: Project Retro Wagon - 180A

Matt, really enjoying your project, and so much the better that it's YOU doing it and not ME: I'd be five years with that much scope-of-work. And I'm not just impressed with the final weight, but FAVORABLY impressed. Ask the guys at Beegles how hard it is to get a C-180 of your vintage or newer any where near 1600#.

Lookin' forward to seeing it perform this season.

Thanks. cubscout

When you're flying, come on over Tom, lots of great flying here in CO. Would love to see a picture or two of your 180 project.

The wagon is flying great! Almost have 50 hours on it since getting it back in the air.

Will try to install the Sportsman STOL kit in July.

Re: Project Retro Wagon - 180A

This update gives me a big smile. With help from Hector and Jeff at Aircraft Repair, LLC at KGWS, I was able to get the Sportsman STOL kit on. Also, a BIG thanks to Willie Stene for all the incredible help.

Virgin wing

Foam blocks on

No more gap in the ailerons

Test fit, mark, trim, then repeat dozens of times. When things are all in sync, tape it on and begin to carefully drill holes.

One wing almost complete

All finished! I'm very pleased with how it turned out. (I'm leaving it unpainted for now.)

Between the install instructions and online photo albums, the kit was straight forward to install (helps to have someone who has installed them before too). I'm extremely pleased to send my money to such a great company for such a great product.

As for the flight results.... WOW!!!

Very cool Matt! I didn't know the Sportsman cuff went all the way back to the ailerons. Is there any difference where it terminates at the flaps?

Barnstormer- Those are separate little filler strips, independent of the cuff.

Matt- Looks great! I anticipate it will serve you well!
