aktahoe...you were the PIC...Right?
Has the FAA cut them off yet?
Have you been shot and sent to the Russian Front yet?
I'm sure there are others on this site who have had dealings with the FAA over some discretion or other.
Yeh it's not fun..been there done that.
66 2/3% of the FAA people I dealt with were basically human about it. I didn't have to report it but I figured they would find out any way...I even tried not to tell the people at the emercency room at the hospital..but that didn't work!
I can agree with AKGrouch and GUMP and share their sentiment
Be honest about it, take your lumps, and move on.
I had to take a little ground school and a little air time from my regular instructor. Never lost the desire to fly. It did not scare me into not flying again.
Be thankful your decesion was the correct one, you, your passenger, and your machine will live to fly another day.
I was told immediately after my mishap some day I would find humor in what I had just done...by the person who owned the plane.
To this day I can't laugh about it but........it goes a long way towards hangar flying.

You do love your labels, don't you? Next thing I know you'll be calling me Canadian. If we go down this road of discussion this thread will end up in the dreaded forum where nobody notices. Not everything is political.

BCAH has plenty of traffic. If I didn't share some of this good stuff, somebody might get offended that I was being stingy or selfish. I wouldn't want that.

If the shoe fits, wear it. We've had this discussion in pm's and as much as you'd like to claim being a liberal ( you trendsetter ), I think your a closet Liberatarian. Heck, I even saw you with a gun (sorry about "outting you")

I'm afraid this thread has had political overtones from day 1.

BTW, I'm headed out to the airport to put more air in my tires, so I can help save 50 billion barrels of oil...

Be Back Soon !

If I can't laugh at this country's political mess, I'd have to cry and I save that for the important stuff... ;-)

Read the whole article... and it might help if you have drivechains to your Clevelands and taxi around town. :)

This thread has until the end of the day before it dies anyway.

The article is nonsense, because it starts changing the numbers right from the beginning. If you let me play with the numbers, I can prove anything. Remember statistics are like a prostitute

If you scuttle this thread, then where will its originator go to give updates on the Feds. That is what I am dying to here about.

Oh and do not put all the blame on mortgage brokers, the borowers did a lot of lying to both the brokers and to themselves. I have with some limited sucess tried to teach to my kids that if you cannot afford it then do not buy it. Irks me that those that make good decisions are on the hook for those that make bad ones.

Sorry I could not help myself.

Now that this is in the box, I will share the joke:

I'm reminded of the time that Catherine, a little girl in our neighborhood, told me that she wanted to be President one day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there with us, and I asked Catherine, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?'

Catherine replied, 'I would give houses to all the homeless people.'

'Wow, what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine.' I told her, while both parents beamed, 'but, you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I will pay you $5 dollars. Then we can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 dollars to use for a new house.'

Catherine, who was about 4, thought that over for a second, and then replied, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and clean up the dog poop himself, and you can pay him the $5 dollars?'

Welcome to the Republican Party, Catherine.

Well, to answer your original question.

In the old days (meaning pre cell phone, PLB, etc) if you flew out, landed wrong and broke something or had engine problems you would:

a) Get out your duct tape and safety wire, jack the broken part up and figure out how to fix it.
b) If it was fixable, you did.
c) If not fixable by your own self, your drinking buddies knew the general area where you were, and they’d fly out and help.
d) Then the group of you would figure the fix, do it, and when you felt you had it all together, you’d fly the thing home.

When you got back to your home strip several things always happened:
a) Everyone would wander out to see what you did.
b) Everyone would take great pleasure in telling you how dumb you were, and how they’d never fly with you ever again.
c) You’d supply the beer as everyone pitched in to repair the damage, and somewhere along the line your mechanic would show up to check it all out and sign off the log book.
d) You learned not to do whatever you did ever again, and you didn’t.

It was very simple back then.

Wait, make that OUR TAX DOLLARS

Very little get's me as upset as that. They had this single mother on the TV. Seems she remorgaged her house to redecorate it and the bad people are going to raise her rates to 12%, and now that she owes more than it's worth, what's a poor single mom to do? The answer of course is that the Guv'mint should pay her house off for her, give her a good fixed rate at 90% of the houses value and when she sells, she should share her profits with the guv'mint.
Of course we should NOT do this for combat disabled veterans, or police or firemen disabled in the line of duty, just poor minority single Moms.
Hot air is the place for political crap.

Roger That Iceman...

I would expect nothing less. Been there, done that a whole lot more times than I care to count. The fly in and fix part that is. :o Imagine that. Some of us actually did field repairs on certified aircraft, then flew them home without official FAA blessing, and somehow lived to tell about it. Hypothetically of course. I was in Philadelphia at the time. But I heard about it.
