Stinson Flight from SoCal to GA just pay gas

Hey Guys,

I've been debating leaving my plane in SoCal or bringing her over to GA (where I have been doing some contract flying) and it's just doesn't make sense having my plane 1800nm away.

So... I'm going to be flying her to Georgia, probably looking at around 16hrs of flight time burning about 10gal a hr. This would be great for anyone working on their commercial (or even private), I'm a CFI, all I teach is tailwheel and would be happy to knock out those day and night dual x-countries, long x-country, instrument work etc. and give you a tailwheel endorsement too.

I haven't set a date yet, so that's something we could work out with both our schedules.

Thoughts???

I'm all over SoCal to East Texas if the schedule is right. I need a tailwheel endorsement and XC time is always good!

Actually send me a PM or give me a call at 903-258-2001. I am thinking I could go all the way to GA. I have some time off coming up

I know this site is all about people helping people out... but I'd rather not see this type of thing become a habit here on BCP. Splitting gas is one thing...

Maybe it's just me. :?

? What’s the issue with this, I would like to move my plane, others need the hours/instruction, I’m not making money on this, just saving a few bucks on gas and the other party gets dual tailwheel time for like 50ish bucks a hr, hows that a bad thing for anyone?

Re: Stinson Flight from SoCal to GA just pay gas

Matt, I haven't thought about it too hard, but my first impression is just the opposite.

This offer strikes me as a grand bargain. Where else are you going to get a free stinson rental and 16 hours with an instructor for just the price of the fuel? I would be delighted to see more offers that are as good as this one.

And, for what it's worth, I'll even defend the last offer, because obviously anyone should be able to set their own price. If a deal is too bad, ignore it, there's nothing more humiliating on a forum than zero responses to your post. There's plenty of real aviation talk here to dilute out the occasional commercial entry.

Sorry 93K, I didn't mean to pick on you in your thread. If all parties are happy then so be it. The last deal had an interesting outcome. It's just my opinion.

Beautiful -2 by the way.

I'm new here but this seems like a great opportunity. I need Stinson time in type while I rebuild my 108-1. This might work for me.

Nice bird X's 2

I don't have a problem with your post.......your intentions have been clearly stated from the get go.......I'd even be in if you were making money as long as it was stated up front from the start......... but I'm one of those guys that a hand shake is and hand shake ..........and yes everyone has a right to voice their own opinions even when there are different........just don't be sending me any nasty grams......thank you

Maybe I'm just turning into and old curmudgeon..

Just don't let the FAA, or the IRS, catch wind that are doing anything other than cost sharing without a current 100hr and a business license.

I doubt a payment equal to the cost of fuel would be half the expenses when the price of instruction, oil, airport fee and storage were deducted. :D

What airports would the "student" be flying into and out of commercially? San Diego and Atlanta?

It probably wouldn't, but again without a current 100 hour he can't "charge" for instruction.
61.113(c) allows the direct cost of operating a flight to be shared by the occupants of an aircraft by stating that a pilot may not pay less than the pro rata share of the operating expenses of a flight with passengers, provided the expenses involve only fuel, oil, airport expenditures, or rental fees.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care what agreement they come up with just be careful what you say here in public.

I agree, I wouldn't say anything here that you don't want the FAA to hear. Did I ever mention how much I admire and respect the wonderful job the FAA does?

Very nice looking Stinson by the way. Who ever takes the flight across is going to have a ball, and also learn from it. Good Value.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

They don't really give a rat's ass about your safety.
The advice is valid though... don't say things about what you are going to do, in a public forum.

We have a FAA guy here. He is as good as anyone you will ever meet! Plus he fly's a Maule like me.

I worked for the government for over 30 years, Fire Dept. I just wanted my tax money back and I enjoyed helping some people and the excitement was good.

Worked with lots of Police. There were a lot of us who were there for the money, and had NO! interest in making a fellow Americans day bad. Unless you had a ULTRA LEFT WING ATTITUDE going on. I would put your ass in it place.

I remember the guy with the bumper sticker in his door. The picture of Bush that said American Terrorist, that guy got SPECIAL ATTENTION.

But as you can see from what I just said. Stealth is good.

Re: Stinson Flight from SoCal to GA just pay gas

What we all know-but here is a reminder.....
EVERY occupation, organization, group, club, church, business, profession-have bad eggs that stand out in our minds. At work, most of us work with mostly good/great people. Who cause the most grief and mentally 'go home with us' at night? That's right. The 3-5% of the people who standout by being assholes/dishonest/climbers/jerks/you get the idea...
And yes, it is hard to keep perspective when they 'loom large' by the amount of wear and tear on us to 'deal with them'-in spite of their actual small numbers.....

Sometimes I have to sit myself down and have this little chat with myself!
