Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

JC,

Most likely be Grumpy or Pissy

Or maybe Skynot? or Skyjacker? Hitchhiker? Planeless?

I hadn't given that a thought, however you make a good point, I'll have to think of a few, but that hurts my head

See ya, Bub

Finally flew to somewhere!

What, it's only taken me two years before I could add to this thread?

Beautiful day in Idaho, so I jumped in the plane and went to the Warhawk Museum in Nampa, ID. Smooth, cold, clear, and unlimited viz.

Highly recommended museum for WWII freaks, lots of unusual items, but not a whole lot of planes, just 2 P-40s, a T-28, an SNJ and a P-51C partly restored.

Rocky :)

Oh, about noon to 2:30...boy, there was a lot of activity...I think Caldwell and Nampa should be on different freqs, could hardly get a word in edgewise!

Good Luck with your ride! :D

Went in to Rockland Ranch and Rustler Canyon today.

Rockland Ranch strip was exc. Had a gal give us a great tour, and invite us back to camp.

Rustler Canyon was pretty good. Wouldn't recommend it for nosewheel in present condition. But a couple guys could spend an hour or so there and put in in very good shape.

I will post some pictures later, left the camera in the plane.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Northside AK Range conditions pretty rough

Flew out to a nearby lake this weekend. The sun has crusted the surface really badly and the wind has eroded the snow out of the softer places in the crust. Result is something like southwest mesas on a smaller scale. somewhat better once the sun warms it up, but pretty choppy when frozen.

It's when the wind sculpts the snow into crazy peaks and waves, like the top of a lemon meringue pie. Sort of like alpine cornices and fluting on a small, flatter, scale. You get it a lot in high mountains- pain in the a** to walk through, but usually bullet-proof from being wind-driven, so decent cramponing at least.

Flew to Teluride Co. on Wed. from Durango to do a long day of snowboarding. It was cool to land at over 9000' get out of a Maule amoung choppers and VL J's grab the snowboard and hitchhike to town right were the gondola comes in to street parking and ticket window.
Great snow and no one was there, even did a long in bounds hike to the peak (13,250') and road some super steep terrain and a couple great rock shoots. 30 mins. each way vs 3-3.5 hours of driving. Gotta love GA. Peter

Hot Dang, maybe Spring is slowly starting to get here, I landed up on the Toiyabes for the second time in the last couple of weeks. The snow is starting to blow and melt off the ridge tops, I can't wait until Summer.....
