Flew down from Gunnison to Platte Valley in the J-3 on Sunday morning. It was a pretty day for the trip, so I thought I'd share some pictures.

I landed at Platte Valley to discover that my wife and the dog beat me home traveling by car. :/ That is Cub flying for you!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I was in Lacrete for the weekend visiting the in laws. Coming home yesterday I had to climb above 7000' to clear the restricted fire fighting airspace to get home. Nice and smooth up high.

Skimmed under a couple of these at 7500'

And got myself a new toy while I was up there...

Re: Where did you fly today?

Now fill out the paperwork and pay the $200 for the tax stamp so you can put a normal stock on your new toy. Then it turns into a darn useful tool. Otherwise it stays in the toy category. I got one too.

A1Skinner is in Canada-- are the regs similar? Is there an equivalent to the NFA BS we have here?

Ya Zane is right. This is actually one of the very few rifles that the Canadian government is more lenient on then the US. It is classified as a rifle here, not a handgun. I got it in a .44 mag, and I'm thinking it'll be a great camping/flying/horse packing gun.

Not sure how the NFA rules go Zane, but up here we have to register any handguns. No cost, just a PITA. And I don't really feel that the gumint needs to know what guns I own...

In the US, a short barreled rifle with barrel less than 16", but having a full rifle stock, is an illegal configuration according to the National Firearms Act. I'm not sure if even the tax stamp makes an SBR legal. Kinda silly. But this is a conversation for another forum here.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Sorry, my bad. Didn't know you were from the great north land. Putting a stock on is no problem up north. We have to have the tax stamp for items as SBRs and silencers, etc.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Tammy and I flew to Florence, Oregon Saturday. Beautiful flight, CAVU except a little haze, and light winds until we got to the west side of the coastal mountains. Gusts were straight down the runway but at close to 30 knots.

We borrowed the courtesy car (a nice Lincoln :P ) and went to the beach. The wind was a little too brisk to relax much but it was nice to walk.

Then off to the dunes in a rented Razor to risk our lives  . Lots of fun but I'll stick to dirt bikes and a paddle tire in the future.

We flew home late and saw a beautiful sunset over Mt. Hood.

The landing lights at our home airport, RLD were TU so we diverted to Pasco and had to bum a ride off a friend.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Fun morning on our North Circuit here with my buddy Trent and his new Kit Fox. Good smooth air and dry conditions. All this rain we have had has made for epic conditions. Sure hope we dont burn this summer!

I'm headed to Polson Montana in the AM and then down to the Supercub fly in at JC on Saturday hoping to win a set of bushwheels [-o< and fly an SQ or two... 8)

Talchoko glacier BC - about 200nm north of Vancouver.
One stop on a recent tour up to SE Alaska.

The lake here - almost 2km long, is a result of glacier melt - doesn't show on topo map.
