Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Trying out the new Airstreaks. Getting used to the pillow soft feel and the extra nose up stance. Pretty smooth bar, I'll work my way up to the watermelon size rocks later.

Also a pic of the original 6x6, the 8:50x6 I was on the last couple of years, and the new Airstreak 26". I wonder how long before I realize I should have gone straight to the 31"?

I had 31s on my citabria and never regretted it for a second. You probably should have gone straight to them... haha. Love helping other spend their $$. :)

Cavanaugh Bay and Sullivan Lake

The lovely Miss Tammy and I met Terry and his family at Cavanaugh Bay in Northern Idaho this weekend for a camping trip. Terry, his dad, and I flew our planes (a 182, a 207, and my Maule respectively) out to Sullivan lake for a day trip on Saturday morning. The clouds were building so we kept an eye to the sky for our return trip. It was raining back at our destination, but it was still decent VFR for the flight.

It was great to meet Terry and his family, we are looking forward to more trips together.

Nimpkish Lake. Never see anybody else land here. Good camping and tiedowns. Only a 15 minute walk to road access and internet.

Where did you fly today?

I had to get out and scratch the itch yesterday. Especially after seeing all the pics from the group headed to Oshkosh. So, I grabbed Adam and a sandwich from Subways and headed out to the desert to check out some new spots, as well as some old. 6 places in all, 3 new. It was a good afternoon of flying!

Yup. Per his request. I'll take it. I know the days are numbered that he'll want to wear matching hats, t-shirts, etc...let alone hang out with dad.

From experience (which I'm sure you can relate to), he'll go through that phase. Then when he's older and mature he'll remember these days VERY fondly.

I can't wait until we have kids that I can share life with!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took my brother who is visiting from Denmark out to Indian Creek yesterday morning. We only fished for an hour but hooked several nice trout downstream of the strip. Was a busy Sunday in the area with great weather, 4 or 5 planes came in and took off while we were there.

Re: Where did you fly today?

This weekend Tammy and I took the Maule across the Cascades to Vancouver, WA to meet her friends for dinner on the Columbia River.

After that we took the short hop to Kelso, WA to spend the night with her friends. On the way back yesterday I plotted a direct course over Mount Saint Helens. What a spectacular day to enjoy the Washington Cascades. Clear and smooth and amazing.

I especially love the shot with Mt. St. Helens in the foreground, Spirit lake in the middle, and Mt. Rainier in the background.

On days like this Washington is amazing.
