I was not aware this set up existed until I saw an ad for a 172 for sale.

Looking for info regarding 2 position variable pitch prop for O-300.

Info provided:

Per STC SA3-11

McCauley Hub P/N 2B36C7
Blade P/N 78K-2

Any knowledge shared about this set up would be appreciated. Mike

That prop is item 1(d) on page 8 of the C170 TCDS #A-799:

"*(d) McCauley two-position controllable, hub 2B36C7,
blades78K-2 (Models 170A and 170B landplane and skiplane with C-145-2H engine)
Pitch settings at 30 in. sta.:
low 13°, high 17.5°
Diameter: Not over 76 in., not under 74.5 in.
Item 108 with seaplane lip and Item 402(j) required."

I'm surprised that you apparently found an airplane with one installed.
I'd be amazed if you ever found one of those props for sale.

That’s what I thought as this 172 for sale is the first I’ve heard of it.

I would love to hear about someone’s experience with one.
