Re: Who's Got Parts that Would help our Friend's 180

I got a truck and trailer if you need anything hauled from Oregon, Washington, NORCAL, Idaho I can truck it. If Bill has a plane for you I suppose I could go to SOCAL then to Durango.

I'm a good wrench, I could hang around a few days and drill out rivets or what ever.

Cheers...Rob

Anyone needing crane service to pick up the pieces, within 100 miles of Inkom, it'll be FREE. Over that, catch my fuel. Unless your your insurance will pay for it that is

I get excited anytime I see a boom truck and an airplane at the same time #-o

Re: Who's Got Parts that Would help our Friend's 180

I have a set of 185 wheels forward 185 legs that I replaced with 180 legs as part of some project CREEP
I ran into when trying to lighten up the 170. I paid around $1,500 for the 180 legs.
Would be willing to part with the 185 legs for something close to that. Been keeping them just in case I bend the ones I have but that does not seem too likely. :^o

They are the light green color that comes with the two part epoxy primer.
If you must see the color just google n4650C. Do not know how the pictures got there but was surprised when a friend called and told me to try it. At least the person was nice enough to show the after version also.

PM me if interested.

I'm here
Thanks Del and others for your well wishes and efforts
Not much to say about this. Pretty dissappointed.
Lessons learned from this
1) Snow and tires don't play well together. Too unpredictable. Won't be doin that one again.
2)I have BAS shoulder harnesses and they did their jiob perfectly. But. I didn't realize there were different styles. On mine, the shouilder harness is attached to the lap belt. It was more difficult to get out of than I expect when I was upside down. My next set will be the style that when you release the buckle, all straps release. I will cut off the little knob on top of my ball caps so that it doesn't get driven into my O-So-Thick skull.
Thanks
Gary

Thanks, but I really don't have much money to work with. I am expecting to part it out.

Re: 180 crash

I bought a 1958 182 Monday. Put it on my credit card with the hopes that I could have the parts I need and sell the rest to pay off a good part of the credit card debt for the 182. Pretty big gamble for me, and I haven't been makikn the best decisions lately .

I would still need a good firewall and the little strip that goes around it that the engine cowl attaches to. I guess the boot cowl is fairly easy to make???

The engine inspection is $7000 plus whatever it needs. They have estimated $2500 to fix the prop.

If it does work out that I can fix my plane, I will have some damaged 180 parts to sell, and a lot of early 180/182 parts if anyone is looking

That's the way things are settin right now.

Be partners. Gary fix your motor and put it in Pats Hull. Then Gary gets it one month and Pat gets it the next. Got to think out side the box.

That will work with me. Hopefully I'll win the big one and I'll just buy what ever Gary needs to get flying again.

You did say you already bought a 182 this week? I think there is/was a straight tail parked at Fullerton for sale not too long ago. No idea what condition it's in, but do know it's been parked outside. I'll check it out of you want me to. Or of there is somebody else in that area (Fullerton, CA - KFUL) that is more qualified than me.

Pat
This 182 I bought is a good clean/straight, running, but runout engine. It is nearby and I can fly it home. I am trying to decide if I will be able to afford fixing mine with the parts and selling the excess, or inspecting/fixing my engine and putting it in the 182. Last thing I want to happen is to get in the middle of this project and run out of money and have payaments I can't afford and have to have a fire sale to raise money and lose even more.
Thanks for your efforts

We don't know each other, Gary, but I feel your pain. I have a close personal friend who has bent some metal before, and the "reverse mohawk" scalping I got, I mean he got, from the little button on top of his hat finally started to grow back after about a month.

As evidenced by this and the other thread, you have a whole community of fellow travelers out here who are pulling for you.
