2019 flyins

Anybody have a good list of relevant flyins for 2019? I like to start making dream-plans early. That gets me through the depressingly dark and wet days of winter here in the pacific northwest. I know the High Sierra gathering will likely happen in October again, but what about other good fly-ins? Any important ones planned for the Idaho Backcountry? How about events for the Montana wilderness areas? Who has a good line on a consolidated schedule? Help me with my dreams...

I'll trade your wet and dark for my cold and dark?

Speaking of Alaska, you can fly to Valdez in May....

I've got a bunch of fly-in's planned, and if anyone else is there I'll just keep flying. :D

Re: 2019 flyins

The annual fly-in of the Montana Antique Aircraft Association, the weekend after Oshkosh, in Three Forks Mt., is one I rarely miss. Not too big, real casual, and great country all around.

Re: 2019 flyins

The AOPA fly-ins have been getting good reviews and I had hoped to attend one this year. After reading that the closest to me will be in Livermore, CA I decided to not put it on the want go to list.

Only two things on my list this year.
1. Reno Air Races which my neighbor flew down to and said was great fun.

2. Try to hunt down Hammer in the wilderness and force him to share a camp fire with me. He doesn’t seem to like people and I’m liking people less every hour so if I’m successful in tracking him there should be some very satisfying silence around the fire.

I'm not sure if I really don't like people, or if I'm just tired of the same old recipes.

Many years ago, in about 1986 I think, Wife 2 and I flew to the Reno Air Races. It was indeed a lot of fun. Take plenty of sunscreen, and earplugs--it's sunny and loud! It was also expensive--we stayed at the MGM Grand, and she bought about a thousand bucks worth of clothes from the stores in the basement of that hotel. In today's money, that would be about $2300. But she looked nice!

I hope to have my plane up and running early this spring and planned to hit you up for playing on some desert strips.

Would be good. I like the looks of the plane. I gotta get over to Blackfoot in the near future, will drop you a line.

Sounds good. Pick a warm day, our hangar is drafty and cold.
