3rd Annual Red Hills Fly-In - Memorial Day Weekend

Those who went last year had a lot of fun. Jack and Myrna loved meeting new pilots and seeing airplanes on their strip so they asked us to do it again this year. This is a very low-key fly-in. Mostly just to camp and talk and pet Jack's dogs. There may be a few flyouts to local strips and flying "the Death Star trench" but mostly just kicking back and relaxing.

First things first: Liability. Jack will not permit you to land without having first signed the liability waiver. NOTE: The form only needs to be filled out once. If you've filled it out, you're good to go! It can be found here: https://goo.gl/HgZsXO

You may sign it digitally or print it out and bring it with you.

Rich Finkle also created an outstanding informational video on flying into the Red Hills strip. I highly encourage anyone flying into Red Hills to watch it. It's also linked on the liability waiver.

We can arrive as early as Friday evening. Most folks will be arriving on Saturday. Plan to bring some potluck food for Saturday night. Bring your own meat and something else to share with everyone.

Myrna will be cooking Sunday breakfast.

My rig is indeed gone. I have a new rig that involves a lawnmower engine and a bed sheet. Truly a sight to behold. Both it and I would not miss this for the world!

Just a bump to bring this topic up again.

Jack and Myrna are also having an Easter Weekend get-together. They invite family and friends for an Easter Saturday lunch. All pilots are welcome to attend and will be treated like family. Sign the waiver and come on out!

Scott:

Thanks for the reminder. I'll be there for Easter & Memorial Day.

Hey everyone - This is a nice laid back event doing the things we love to do, i.e., flying, eating, drinking, telling lies .....

If you are in the area stop by and say hello.

Hey Scott, will there be an Easter egg hunt for the kids? That might help convince the family to come. We could bring eggs to hide too. This could be some fun for BCP kids! Maybe this should be its own thread to gauge interest?

Sorry Rob, just saw this. Yes, there is always an Easter egg hunt for the kids. They also all get to pick something from a prize pile. There is always next year.

Here is a link to some pictures on my blog. https://airprayer.wordpress.com/2016/03 ... -saturday/

Rich Finkle will probably have pictures and a movie soon. :)

Re: 3rd Annual Red Hills Fly-In - Memorial Day Weekend

Just a bump to remind folks about the Red Hills Fly-In coming up on Memorial Day weekend. I received this from our entertainment director:

"I was thinking of going up Fri afternoon and spending the night and flying to Lodi for breakfast Sat morning. If any of the others want to meet there then fly over to Red Hills after breakfast. If enough are interested, maybe have a spot landing and water balloon bombing contest before the pot luck Sat evening. Then Sun morning the pancake breakfast and more BS'ing and fly off to our destinations. Very low key and good fun."

There you have it good clean fun. Speaking of which Jack and Myrna chipped in for the outhouse this year so be sure to leave them a tip to help pay for it. We might have to be sneaky with the money because they probably won't accept it.

As long as I'm in town and the weathers good I'll be there. The spot landing and water ballon bombing contest sounds fun.

Re: 3rd Annual Red Hills Fly-In - Memorial Day Weekend

Got this from Hawk:

"[We] did some work [at Red Hills] yesterday. Rich, Chris R., Jack and I were the work party. We downed the tree next to the runway and sawed part of the downed tree for firewood for the fly-in and piled the rest in a burn pile for future burning turning during the winter. We fell a second tree at Jacks request but, we just let it lay due to mechanical problems with the chain saws ( one stopped working, the chain came off another and the third became so dull it was worthless ). That was fine with Jack also. We cleaned the area around the runway that was messy due to the tree cutting. We plan on at later date to fall one more tree further South down the runway as it is dead and Jack would like it downed.

We then had a good lunch and visit with the Moyle's. It was a good day and it is remarkable how the approach to runway 25 is opened up with the downing and removal of the two trees."
