Aircraft Paint Scheme Software

To all,

Can anyone within the BCP offer a suggestion for an open sourced aircraft paint scheme software I could noodle around with. It needs to be simple to match with my skills & abilities.

Cheers,

There must be someone within the BCP community who can point us in the right direction, fingers crossed as well.

Re: Aircraft Paint Scheme Software

I found this, it seems to be primarily intended for the animation community but it did allow me to import an airplane "line drawing" and add color to it. I need to sort through it's functionality, learn how to stay within the line but with some effort it might work. It was open sourced, totally free with no sign ups of any sort, just a simple download.

www.gimp.org

This is a free photoshop type program. There will be a pretty good learning curve with any of them

I just use Microsoft paint and find a blank 3 view drawing on Google. Really primitive, but it works well for making basic templatesImageImage

Re: Aircraft Paint Scheme Software

I’m digging this thread back up with some inspiration from AI.

ChatGPT allows you to upload a picture, then you can tell it what you want to do…

Original paint scheme images:

ChatGPT creations (Variations of “Repaint this airplane using dark blue, silver and white”. I’m considering changing the N-number as well, so there are a couple options there, too.

I told it to give it a “mountain theme”

This was based off another paint scheme I found online:

ChatGPT limits how many images it will generate per day before you have to subscription ($20/month).
I tried using Google Gemini, but I couldn’t figure out how to make it repaint an existing image. I told it to create an image of a Cessna 182 with the colors:

I just found a line drawing of a 180, printed 20 copies and got to work with colored markers.

Re: Aircraft Paint Scheme Software

As was said, chatgpt has gotten pretty good at the image stuff, worth a try

Can make a account for free (I used the randomized Apple sign in service), upload a photo of your plane and see what you can do

AK737,

That is amazing that one is able to create images like this! Thanks for sharing. If I were trying to figure out a scheme a tool like this would be a big help.
