AirVenture 2014 BackcountryPilot Meetup

With the legends of STOL doing their thing this year, there should be quite a few conversations going around the campgrounds about backcountry.

I've secured #CampBacon as a location for our BackcountryPilot Meetup this year.

I'd like to know if you want to have it Wed (30th) or Thurs (31st) at 6pm. (should leave time to leave and go see the movie if you want to just make an appearance).

So please reply and make your voice heard! And we'll pick a night. Or both nights.

Camp Bacon is awesome. It's in Camp Scholler (Directions below) and has lots of aviation geeks hanging out, cooking bacon, drinking beer, telling lies... ALL WEEK. Great people there that I hang out with every year - it's like a family reunion of the aviation addicted for me (I've been coming every year since 1997).

There are large 'community' coolers where you can bring and take beers. And Martt (Airpigz.com) cooks lots and lots of bacon.

Doesn't get much better than this.

If it looks like we'll have a good BCP showing, I'll work on some sponsors.

I'd love to catch up to you if only to have a look at that Wilga Beast!

I"ll be there all week… I'd vote for Thursday, because I'll be at the Kitfox gathering on Wednesday at 6pm. Where is #CampBacon?

I'm pretty likely to miss Wed, so my vote is Thu.

The Seaplane Pilots Corn Roast is Thursday night. The SAFE dinner is Thursday night. Seems like everybody holds their "event" Thursday night.

I'll be there all week too. I'll try to meet up whenever, but Thursday looks better. Lots going on over at New Holstein too.

I will also be there all week and will plan on attending this gathering. It looks like the STOL demo is going on Friday evening at the Ultralight field.

Re: AirVenture 2014 BackcountryPilot Meetup

I'll be at the Corn Roast on Thursday, so Wednesday would be better for me. But I'll also be there all week--leaving here Saturday morning and not returning until Sunday August 3rd or Monday August 4th, depending on weather.

Ok- there are bacon parties both Wed and Thurs nights! Enjoy!

Bummer I couldn't make it, but the folks and bacon is epic!

Re: AirVenture 2014 BackcountryPilot Meetup

My schedule changed so I ended up sun-wed. Just got home. Good times. Too bad I didn't get to meet some of the BCPers, but I didn't get to see everyone I wanted to as it is. :-(

Re: AirVenture 2014 BackcountryPilot Meetup

Well, It looks like my crew was the only ones that showed up in the pouring rain Thursday evening at camp bacon! However, my reward was a piece of crispy, delicious bacon. It was pouring buckets for a while Thursday. It was a great time at Oshkosh. Looking forward to it again in the future.

Sorry to have missed you guys. Scoloplex and I knocked back a few malt bevvies down in North Fond Du Lac vintage camping and I met up with a few other BCP'ers along the way. Awesome time.
