Alaska to Alabama, take two

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

I had Chena Marina Air check it for me. Everything checks out. Mark thinks it's normal Pacer handling that's exacerbated by the stuff gear.

I've gotten pretty used to it and don't have any issues handling it. Its one of those "stay proactive" things.

Those guys know their way around gear alignment, so that's good.

Re: Alaska to Alabama, take two

I re-read through and saw I missed a bunch of stuff. Here's a giant reply to everyone I think.

Crzyivan13 wrote:Cam,

I just noticed that your inReach is sending an updated position every two minutes. What plan are you on?

I'm currently on the ridiculous $90/month plan, but come 1 September I'll start up in an Enterprise plan. I was in a hurry to get it activated and didn't have the time to wait for a customer service agent. It seems the first time I tried setting it up I called on a high call volume day. The second call was much faster. But, leave something to the last minute and you only have a minute to do it...

Thanks! I love it too! I'd love to hop in one of those and see how different they are from a Pacer.

jmd4j wrote:Keep up the fast speeds! Give me a yell when you get back and settled...I'm in Huntsville also.

Holler!

mtv wrote:Wow!!! His track shows him in northern Alabama!!! That's quite a trip, and one fast airplane.
Congratulations on getting her home!

Thanks! It is WAY faster than I thought it would be! We caught some decent tailwinds for part of the trip, too.

Enjoy Home!! =D>

Thanks! I already miss Alaska again! I need to make more money so I can afford a place up there. And a plane to leave up there. And a fast plane to fly back and forth. Barnstormer, what's the secret?!?!

Mojave Flyer wrote:welcome home. must have been a helluva trip. now post some more damn pictures!

Thanks! It was an amazing trip! I'm working with Zane on a write-up. I shot him a super rough draft and he's going to let me know if he thinks it should be an article or just a TR post. I'm holding off on pictures until then.

UpNorth wrote:Sorry to hear we missed you in Ft Nelson. We left for the Yukon last weekend. Glad you had safe trip. Catch you next time.

No worries, I actually stayed with family anyway. It was good to see them. Next time!

kg wrote:It's just a short hop from Huntsville over to Peachstate Aerodrome (GA2). It's worth a visit .. good food, old airplanes, nice people....

We'll have to do that, looks like a nice place! I've got to find a weekend to go show-off to my friend Gilbert in Memphis, and I'd love to get down and see LG as well.

akavidflyer wrote:He also put fairings on just about every place you can. Flap and aileron hangers etc. You have one sweet bird, I've lusted over it more than once at his hangar but I couldn't see myself taking that plane and beating it around the brush hunting with it.

True! The craftsmanship Roger put into this plane really is impressive. He's an artist, really. It's definitely not a hunting plane, but we'll make good use of it camping and cross-country travelling. The speed (which I underestimated) is one of the things that drew me to the plane. E-AB so I can afford the maintenance; Pacer capabilities / cost, so I can afford that; and extra speed to get there faster. Win, win, win.

True, they do really good work and know their stuff. I really enjoyed talking to those guys as well.
