BOOM. Pulled The Trigger. I'm an Airplane Owner

Owning an aircraft has many special considerations like financing, taxes, inspections, registration, and even partnerships. You can post questions on buying and selling procedure. Please post type-specific questions and topics in the Types forum.

I wish it was experimental but it's SLSA. Got to follow specs!!!! As I shout obscenities..... Seriously, if u saw the commie fuel lines and the gunk from deterioration you would change them too.

Can't a SLSA be transitioned to an ELSA then you can take the weekend repairman's class and maintain it yourself?

Congrats! Airplane ownership is often enough a joy that when it isn't, you soon forget that. Advice: do NOT count the expenses--too depressing. Or as Nike says, just do it!

Yes it can. But it can never be an SLSA again. The big advantage to SLSA is that it can be used for hire. (schools, rental, rides...)
Most SLSA aircraft have a better resale but with the ELSA you can get you repairman certificate and do your own annuals( actually conditionals )

Ok, I'm going to open my mouth here with a provisional mea culpa just so I can weasel out later. It can be changed to an ELSA but it still can't be modified like you could with an experimental amateur built. So.....if it's not built according to the ELSA documents submitted by the manufacturer it then reverts to EAB needing an A&P to sign off the conditional inspection.

I think anyway, therefor I think.

ELSA...mod away. Only applies to the initial build. After that it is like any other "experimental".

Here's a good read about SLSA vs ELSA vs Exp/AB

I replaced the rubber lines in my ford pickup after I fueled up with 40 gallons of gas then ran around like a chicken with his head cut off to grab enough buckets to catch the 10 gallon per hour stream of gas running out on my paved drive way then soaking up a 10 foot diameter by inch deep pool of gas with rags.

Wow..

Very cool plane...love the bright yellow as well as the panel.

I think the Zlin folks now have a Supercub of sorts with a 180 HP mill. I don' know how to say Cajones in Czech, but they've got'um.

Mau,
Yes, the Savage is out of annual, and I did get my first couple hours tailwheel instruction. I posted in the Where Did You Fly Today thread about a week ago, Here: http://www.backcountrypilot.org/community/forum/latest/where-did-you-fly-today-697?start=4920

Copied and pasted:
Got my first "log-able" tailwheel time today. Also my first hours in my own airplane! It was fu*&ing awesome. Ill just say I'm glad there is new bungees on the Ol' Savage. The takeoffs left a little to be desired. The whole "gyroscopic precession" thing is something to grasp in a tailwheel. A Cherokee really numbs your feel for this. The takeoffs did get better and better, but I will say the little tail wheel airplane will humble you very quickly.

The landings- Bounced her in a few times, but it was over quickly because the airplane flies so slow. The last landing was the best so decided to quit on a good note.

I had read in the interweb about the stall characteristics of the Savage Cub and I gotta say what I read was right. When its done flying, it's done. No buffet or warning or floating at all. It just drops like a rock onto the runway. We only did single notch flaps landings also.

All in all, I love the way it flies. It feels like a rocket ship, and we had a good bit of weight in the plane today.

Sorry, no pics or video. I forgot my camera, dammit.

The problem is, my work schedule and the weather have not been cooperating together and the plane and instructor are hour and a half drive from where I live.

I'm itching to fly it sooo bad!!! I love it!

26" Goodyears!!

I felt that it was important to begin to properly "accessorize" my airplane.

So, I found a set of used 26" Goodyears for sale. Had them shipped to my door an my Black Lab Daisy, was stoked!

Did the proper and always necessary side x side comparison. Much better than the 8.00's

Made a couple trips around the pattern.

I only had time for a few landings but I can say they are much more cushy than the 800's and they do make it handle differently but not in a negative way.

Can't wait to try them out for real!

On a side note, I finished up my required IFR flying last night and I just hit 40 hours TT. Will be setting up my checkride soon.

Re: BOOM. Pulled The Trigger. I'm an Airplane Owner

Your Savage looks awesome with those 26's!

Any DPE worth his salt will realize only a true aviator would show up for a Checkride in 26's and will most likely just hand you your new PPL. :^o
