C-170B/ IO-360M1B conversion: Complete!!

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Nice looking airplane! Reminds me of a friend's 1958 C180 with original teal & green on polished scheme.

DP, how about a PIREP on those seats. I jumped in and gave them a try after you plane was rolled out, but it's hard to tell sitting at three point. It felt like they lean back more, I had mine recovered this summer one leans back more than the other but it might be the difference in the old frame or amount of stuffing between the back rest and base.

Thats correct... It was a bit ago.. but it was at least 5lbs per seat, and that was going with leather. Going cloth would have saved a bit more.

This is mainly due to the removal of the steel springs etc... and going with the nylon for the support.

The old gal is looking great, Terry! Good job of improving on a very nice airplane. I hope she serves you well on many great trips. Now that the crops are in, are you planning any trips with her?

Hi PK- Thanks for breaking in my new seats for me!

I am real happy with them so far. They are a bit taller than my old ones, but I did ask Ron to err on the side of taller vs shorter. I'm 5-10, and I'm happy with the height and the posture. I don't feel that they lean back that much more than my old ones, and I'm not exactly sure the pedigree of my old ones anyway. These are factory stock 170 seat frames that cleaned up really nicely. Also installed new McFarlane seat rollers, rails, and seat-stop hardware. The fronts came in at 12.5 lbs each, and the Atlees came in at 10.5 lbs each, including seatbelts. The old fronts were 13 lbs for the pax, and 16 lbs for the pilot. Not huge savings, but at least it moved the needle in the right direction.
