I was looking at that basket shaped building Friday morning when I flew over and all I can say is "WOW"

Remember the movie Its a Mad, Mad, Mad World. A buddy on mines dad did some of the flying in it. He flew the Beech 18 in one side of a hanger and out the other side in one of the seens.

Was an ex B-24 pilot with lots of good things to say about Tuskanee Airmen. He would go to where they would hang out and buy them drinks.

Last year a pilot flew under a bridge near here.When he got home there was a message on his answering machine from a Federal agency and it wasn't the FAA.Turns out there are cameras on a lot of big bridges.Some talk of national security came up.Anyway they didn't care a damn about his pilot's license they were trying to decide which federal prison he would go to and for how long.I was also told the pictures were very good.Numbers nice and legible.

Yup, you gotta know your bridge. Literally.

Cables and wires can ruin your whole day, and you absolutely got to know that there are none there. And a security camera might make things interesting if your numbers are visible. Recon from the ground or water first, not from the air.

Now of course I'm only talking about LEGAL flying/operating near a man made structure during take off and landing in a float plane.

If you can fly between the space of a hog and cattle fence and telephone wires, bridges aren't a challenge, well most of them aren't.

Somewhere, I've seen a video of a guy in Utah flying under a whold bunch of arches in a Cessna 182.
Had a special seat made to accomodate the huge cahones......

You are right about the guy in Moab, flying under arches. He was selling VHS videos. According to the video, he was transporting a prisoner and flew through an arch. The prisoner petition the judge for a lighter jail term because the pilot frightened him. There was a large photo of the pilot flying through an arch hanging in the MOAB Diner. The pilot has flown many different aircraft through the arches, not just a C182.
Now the FAA have put a stop to all of the fun!

I have that video, it's called Arch Enemy #1. Pretty interesting to watch, although most of the footage is from the 80's on home video cameras.

Kirby Chambliss flew through a tunnel in some gigantic rock face in China for a demonstration several years back. I saw it on Youtube once, but I can't find it now. I think he had to fly through it on knife edge.

It made flying under a bridge look very tame.

I've flown under a couple of bridges while landing in a floatplane. Didn't seem like that big of a deal until some motorist called us in as having seen a plane that just crashed under the bridge.

These days, low flying plane equates to danger or trouble to the general public, thanks in large part to our dumbass media.

That's why I see "Low Flying Aircraft" signs along some of our highways. Maybe need more of them along the highways in he Owyhee desert .

Actually it is a National Park Service area. Of course they have a regulation against it!!!

In bob Hovers book Forever flying he describes a bridge he flew under on a bet when in North Africa. Good book to read.
