Can Ross4289 elaborate on Continental 550
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.

I had a conversation with a TCM person on the MSB23-01 dedicated phone line last Wednesday. She said she had talked with about 400 people who had completed the inspection and none had found defects. Considering the source, I’m not sure how reliable that was but I can say for sure that mine was okay.

That's actually about what I'd expect. Installing a snap ring improperly isn't a very easy thing to do, and doing it improperly over and over again could only be performed by a highly unaware technician combined with a careless QC inspector. I would expect that the instance that led to all of this was an outlier that resulted from someone being distracted on an off day.
