Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

I might be able to go. I was planning to take leave around that time, so I might slip it a bit to see about this, then head home for some stuff.

The issue will be whether I can rent the mighty T-41 and fly myself...or cough up gas money and ride with someone lol. With the T-41 I'd probably be stuck with Creede only.

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

I'll be doing the Creede portion only. I would love to do the Moab and Monument Valley portion as well, but I don't want to take my kids out of school. From what I remember you can camp on Creede. We will probably fly in on Sat to be there for the Sunday event.

Oh Heck, I'll run that one by Girlscout tonight: She likes Creede a lot. Last time I camped there was a Soaring camp in early September; I have a pitcher of the notorious GND (>6'3") in his girlfriend's (5' nothin') sleeping bag on the picnic table, with 4" of snow...

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

The count down is progressing smoothly.

As part of this trip I will be looking for special places to see, stay, and camp. I would love suggestions.

If I happen to be in your neck of the woods and want to meet for coffee or a meal I'm into that also.

hicountry and I plan on doing The Creede Flyin, Monument Valley, and Leadville, Colorado.

I'm thinking of headed south out of NW Oregon too Columbia, Ca. Jerome, Sedona, Grand Canyon NP. Az. Monument Valley, Air tour south Utah, Some dirt strips out of the Fly Utah Book. Taos, NM?? Ideas? south Colorado, Creede, Leadville, Air tour north Utah, south Idaho, north Nevada, se Oregon, home.

I plan on about 10 days.

Cheers

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

Well I think I might be back on for doing Creede. The club I rent from is staying open a few months longer so far so I can still rent. I'm not taking leave that weekend now and I don't think I have to work.

HC, I'm going to see If I can hook up with you if you do the Moab/Monument Valley thing before Creede. We exchanged phone numbers earlier today. I will check with you as we get closer to the date.

Let me know if you guys are going to be in the Moab vicinity in the next little while. I am thinking of heading down there with my sons to do some flying/hiking. I have a car stashed at CNY for nice people :)

We will be in the area some time Wed thru Fri next week. I have permission to land/stay at Caveman ranch.

The wx here in NW Oregon is turning for the worse. I am not going to take a chance of getting stuck here till Monday. So I am headed towards Lakeview Oregon in about 2 hours. Probably be in Sedona, AZ. tomorrow.

Cheers...Rob
