Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

Flew into Tangri-La (Caveman) last evening where Rob was waiting. The owners showed up and had a good fireside chat. Flew to Mineral Canyon this morning, back to Caveman, and on to CNY where we will spend the night. Got some good photos and videos of each other in some magnificent country. Photos to follow. HC

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

Had a great night sleeping under the stars at Caveman Ranch. Not one light anywhere in sight. Got up at 7AM flew to Mineral Canyon first with Rod, then Hunter and highlander. Then off to Moab. We got a great motel and had dinner in town. Had all you can eat pizza and salad. There was a parade going by too.

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

I am planning on being at the Morning Shadows strip most of the day. Some of us may fly over to the Sand Dunes swimming pool next to Hooper around mid day. Dirt strip runs east-west, about 2500 long. Great salads and burgers. Fed by natural hot springs. Out in the middle of nowhere. Approx lat long 37 46 652 105 51 435

I'll be heading down to Creede after Leadville. I'll be looking for a ride into Morning Shadows to hang with everyone if possible.

Mountainmatt,
If it makes you feel any better: The water at the Sand Dunes Pool was very warm, the beer at Morning Shadows Ranch was very cold.

Rob,

(and Highcountry as well)

After you guys get home and all the dust has settled, please give a detailed report of your trip along with the characters you met along the way. It would be great hearing more from your adventure and I long to visit many of those strips as well. Photos are a plus....so far they look fantanstic.

My popcorn is starting to pop.

Well, it looks like Rob made it to Leadville.

I edited this post because I wasn't doing something right with the SPOT page

Re: Creede CO/Moab/Monument Valley

Made it back home to SNY this afternoon...but my plane didn't. Left Creede a little after 10:00, flew to ALS for fuel...where I found out that Rob and I were "Famous" for our adventure! Left ALS and flew nonstop to within 20 miles of SNY where the high winds and turbulence turned me back...landed at Sterling CO and my wife drove down and picked me up after I put the plane in a hanger. A friend will fly me down in the morning to pick up the plane. Good to meet all of the folks who showed up at Leadville and Creede. Great Pics and videos to follow. Just a great trip and new places! When you live in NW Oregon you know your home because you can't see the top of the mountains, and your bucking a 36KT head wind. Talk about rock and roll.

Under the clouds we go.
