I'm starting to get back into the hunt on potentially owning again and it seems like GA aircraft market sure is a sellers market. Locally I am noticing more people wanting their PPL's as well a few additional planes around. Granted I am in Gunnison, CO - so the population is tiny and any uptick in aviation locally gets noticed.
I have been loosely looking the past few months but decided to really hunt, only to be surprised in the past few weeks current market prices and lack of inventory.. Hmm sounds like real estate. I'm looking at high DA capable options that can haul some gear. Tailwheel preferred, just because I want to add TW time. Ideally something with ADS-B and and IFR GPS (keep currency / light IFR ops)
Non Scientific Observations:
Anything 'backcountry' goes quick and fast with high prices (compared to years past)
Twins are bargains
206's and 207's suddenly seem reasonable priced
It's great to see the energy around GA aviation and I will keep flying (teaching) in other people's planes but keep an eye out on the market.

Welcome back and good luck shopping.
I've been thinking that I need to bump up the insurance hull value on my aircraft as I probably can't replace it for what I bought it for a few years ago (and have it valued at).

I'm in the market for a 206 myself.
Be patient, planes will be cheap soon.

The market is hot, I could've sold my M7 for $30k more than I bought it for, the day I bought it. But then I realized I couldn't buy another one for that much money so selling would get me nowhere.
Seems like this Maule is a decent deal and looks in great shape.

Airplane market is like the housing market right now..totally whacked! If you can wait then wait. Corrections they are a coming in both markets IMHO. I'm waiting to move. I could sell my house in a hurry but where do I land... Tough choice. i think the GA market is very similar right now. It's kind of a "be careful what you wish for" kind of time. Kind of like a bubble...

At Aurora Missouri rental has not increased significantly even though Justin has increased training and maintenance to Monet and Fayetteville Arkansas as well. I have been renting since 2010.

No kidding. I’m looking for a good Husky and there seems to be very few available.

If I recall correctly you bought a killer 182 Straight Tail a few years back. No TW, but it seemed like a great high DA airplane.

Certainly did, it's changed hands 4 times now as I stalk it on the registry. Funny enough, never see it come up forsale on the classified. Finding a straight tail for $42k is a unicorn these days.. Would be curious to see what N2551G has sold for over the past 4 transactions.

Ha, sure hope not. If prices do tank we will have bigger problems than airplanes....

I hear used Rans S7S are still selling half priced if you can live with an experimental 2 seater. I think it would fly good in Gunnison.

Rans S7, S20 and S21 (granted the 21 brand new) are all on the list if the right one came up. That said, likely would be a short lived ownership - fly it to build the TW time then sell it. Long term need more cargo room.

I talked to the Seller of the 69 206. Said he had 20 calls the day it posted and some guy was flying in with his jet to look at it. 206 prices are nuts. I want to buy but sticker shock. My money is going to be worthless if they keep printing it as fast as they do. I dont remember 206 prices ever really coming down.

The $80k one would be interesting for someone with cash (I have to finance) and the ability to finish it out since it's not registered yet. That is if the build looks good / documented.

they performance states that it has a service ceiling of 14k seems low to be all that good in Gunni or most of CO where you're operating with a 7-10k DA - any idea if its really that low? I've seen similar aircraft stating the service ceiling of 20k+
