Let's get together and talk planes and summer flying!

Denver area / Front Range meet and greet on Saturday April 8th 2017 from 11:00am till 1:00pm (weather dependent). This will take place at Chaparral approx 30 NM east of Denver. Two grass runways with plenty of parking. No facilities / restrooms.

NOTE: Rwy 11/29 has been shortened to 1800 ft due to fire/burn area. Land after the cones marking threshold 11.
NOTE: MUST SIGN E-WAIVER found here prior to attending:

Plan on eating lunch and staying for a while (hot dogs, chips, soda).

Please post here with questions and if you're planning on coming (need a basic headcount for food).

I signed the waiver. Thanks for setting it up, Matt. Not sure about coming yet, several "ifs" have to fall into place. Do we bring our own food? If not, what do we bring? $$$$ contributions?

A quick bump for the gathering next weekend.

Also, we have received some much needed moisture in the last few weeks and runway conditions are really soggy. I see we are expected to get another storm passing through on Mon/Tues, but then things should dry out prior to Sat. But, if the runway is not suitable due to wet/muddy conditions, we'll choose an alt weekend or meet somewhere else on Sat. I don't see that happening at this point.

As far as food goes, we'll keep it simple with hot dogs, chips and soda.

If you want to bring anything extra (cookies, potato salad, cheese sticks, coffee, etc) I'll leave that up to you. Just being there is the important part.

Looks like we'll have a nice group of 10-15 planes. 122.9... use it. :-)

Matt-

We met at Lagarita back in the fall. I am flyin a pretty heavy nose dragger, so I have to ask a few more questions than the rest of the group...
How does it compare to Lagarita / Morning Shadows in roughness/firmness? I assume 17/35 length is as advertised.

I plan to be there unless your answers scare me.

CO18 is smoother and longer than both LGCR and Morning Shadows. Hard to tell at the moment with the recent rain/snow, but I expect it to be plenty firm for a/c up to 4000 lbs. If there are soft spots, I’ll let people know on Friday in this thread.

Hope to see you there Scott!

Sounds great Eddie, hope you can make it. If not, plan on attending the La Garita fly-in the first weekend of June. ;-)

Doubt I'll make it as I'm helping out with the Ford TriMotor flights in Albuquerque but you answered my question about LaGarita. See you there.
