DavidB, that is a great reply. You really do have to be on the watch when on a bike(or a plane)--the pavement, the truck or car that you collide with doesn't treat you better if you are in the right of way, or did nothing wrong.

Being right doesn't protect you from being injured.

Nope, no motorcycle license here. I've been thinking about getting one, though.

I just finished rebuilding the engne on a /5 for another pilot at my airport. I hadn't worked on one of those in years, but seemed to still have most of the factory tools. I may have to find one now, a truely enjoyable vintage ride and different than the Guzzi's and Ducati's I own.
Yours looks very well used/loved.

I have a license. I had a 2004 Honda 919 until literally 20 minutes ago. The money is going toward my first plane.

I sold the bike after an old lady pulled out on me. I missed her by about 2 inches, started fishtailing, but somehow caught it. My next ride I almost had another yahoo pull out in front of me. Massachusetts drivers are horrible, and that's coming from a Jersey driver. I am use to at least 1 person per ride trying to kill me in Jersey. I got use to it and expected it. But in Massachusetts, they pull things that you just can't protect against, no matter how defensively you ride. It wasn't fun anymore, so what was the point?

Figured after 16 years of renting it is time for my own bird. I now have a decent down payment saved up and have started seriously shopping!

I would love a 180/182. My budget would not. I need to do flying on the cheap. So for me it is a C140, C150 TD, Luscombe, or similar.

The prices on 182s are amazing right now. They are right in line with, and sometimes less than a 172! The fuel and upkeep costs would sink me, probably the driver for the price points lately.
