Edo 2960 cable rigging
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
I noticed telltail marks on my port float the other day. What is causing the cables to mark the float? The starboard float shows no such marks. The cables ends were showing a bit of rust so I sprayed LPS. Thoughts?

All those wraps of safety wire on those turnbuckles!
I would have to go out and fix jacked up water rudders and cables, out on a river somewhere, and while getting wet and eaten alive buy mosquitos, I would curse the googan who wrapped a turnbuckle that many times, moreso if I was the googan bleeding. AC43.13 says 4 wraps.(?)
Also note the nicopress sleeves are not plated. Stainless cable requires plated sleeves to prevent corrosion. In some instances I’ve seen accelerated corrosion with SS cable and bare copper sleeves, guessing salt water or otter piss?
Pull you water rudders up while tied on the dock. Most likely a wake or current is causing the water rudders to jack around and the head of that turnbuckle is making that odd looking track on your float.

ps. If I seem a little pissy or corrosive it’s cause my float flying days are most likely done…

Thanks Rocket
That is the kind of info that makes this site great.
When I go on wheels this winter I will do some “adjusting”.
And I will keep them lubed with LPS.
Good thought on raising the rudders while docked .
