What do you have going on under the PAR200B? That the autopilot? Looks fantastic! Love everything, especially that switch panel.

Yes that will be the Dynon Autopilot - once it’s been certified for the 180 - I have the wiring harness already installed - just the Dynon ap module and servos to install once it’s legal too.

And where are they with this? Any progress?

Beautiful aircraft.

That was back in the day when I had faith that Dynon was going to certify their AP for the 180. They are like 3 years late on the 182, which they had previously committed to years ago, and they are not even doing the early model 182 that have a stabilizer with a jackscrew, as all the 180/185’s have - that told me all I needed, I no longer believe they will ever certify their AP for the 180. I ended up going with the Trutrak Aerocruz as it worked with the rest of my Avionics. Also, I ended up with a different final panel layout as well based on some other decisions along the way.

You must be absolutely chomping at the bit. Congrats! Gorgeous!

Is there an issue with jack screw servo’s and should I assume the Trutrak has no pitch trim servo on the 180?

Give us the number on your new stall IAS, please.

I don't recall that you mentioned doing that,
and some pics from early in this thread show it as it is now.

The 3 window mod was actually the reason I took it up there in the first place (that and newer style doors) - it was the first thing I did - before I ended up going the full rebuild route.

Correct the Aerocruz100 (trutrak) does not have a pitch trim servo (at least in the 180). When I last talked to Dynon they said that the servo brackets would be a different design and with the difference in the stabilator it would have to be a separate approval, yadda, yadda.

I just noticed you put a flush mount dock for an iPad in your panel. 10”?

Care to share details? Are you happy with it? Thanks.

Just the photo angle, it’s not flush mount, it’s the Mygoflight Air Cooled case and their compact quick release mount for the iPad Pro 11 - the screen is almost the same size as the Dynon HDX screen (my PFD) so there is some symmetry there. I have it mounted on a plate in the place of where a 2nd Dynon HDX screen would go, it’s already prewired for the 2nd Dynon HDX screen. I’m going to be running the Avydine IFD100 app and ForeFlight in split screen. My idea is I would fly it that way for a while to see if I feel it provides more advantages over a 2nd HDX, if not it’s pretty much a drop in to add the Dynon.

Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

And this long ass thread is finally at its end.

The 180 is home and flying - I'm working off the rust after not flying much. Pattern work & basic maneuvers while I get proficient again and learn how to fly behind the glass panel. The handling and performance are a joy - the interior and exterior looks amazing (to me). I'm thrilled with the final product - as some of you kept pointing out, yes it took longer then I would have wanted. But I'm now looking forward to years of flying in this wonderful plane and enjoying camp fires with my fellow pilots.

Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

Thankfully, there are folks like yourself who are willing to put their heart and soul and a significant percentage of their annual income into refurbishing these irreplaceable flying machines!

So, Thank You for bringing one more legend of aviation back to better than new condition. It sure looks beautiful to me.

And, Congratulations!

It looks amazing. Super cool to really do it right. I am sure that most of us make compromises here and there. I hope you enjoy it for a long long time.

Dynon got the AP approved for 182 finally. Took about as long as your annual…

Just wanted to close this out - yes I sold my 180.

Plane was great - hated to sell it, but I stopped flying so I had to sell it.

I'll be selling a few things - that didn't go with the plane

1) Muffler for 0470R that has 5hrs flight time (I upgraded my exhaust when I upgraded engine and engine mount)
2) Bose A20 and LightSpeed Zulu 2 headsets
3) Nicest set of Yokes you will find - completely refurbished, re-chromed, and then wrapped in leather.
4) Height adjustable seats (pilot and co-pilot)
5) White Lightening GPU
6) EarthX battery charger

I'll be doing a separate for sale post - but just wanted to give a heads up.
