Boulder Mail Trail- Boulder to Escalante

So I am thinking about backpacking the boulder Mail trail at the end of September, seems like a good airplane supported hike, starts at the Boulder airstrip and ends in Escalante. Anyone done this? If anyone is interested let me know. Its a fairly rugged slickrock and creek hike. Should take 3-4 days.

I'm off the last 3 days of September, maybe I'd go along. Leave one plane at Escalante?
Nice area.

Re: Escalante (1L7)

Hi, what are fuel prices at 1L7? We were planning to go to Negrito but with that cancelled we are headed to Bryce Canyon (Sat night) and plan on a stopover in the Canyonlands area Friday. Tentative plan is to camp at Mineral Canyon Friday night. There was a cleanup there middle of last month so the strip should be in great shape (anyone know most current conditions?). But also wondered about Escalante as a possible stopover. Planning on breakfast in Bryce and then a tour of the Canyon before a night at the lodge.

Thanks!

Re: Escalante (1L7)

Stopped by 1L7 today and met slowhawk. Great guy and he got us sorted with the car so we could get some lunch.
Topped up with fuel and we were on our way.
Chris has done a great job getting that airport into shape and backcountry pilot friendly.
Thanks again.

Re: Escalante (1L7)

I've been there the last two weekends. Sunday I had my wife and dogs in tow. The Sphere One car worked out well for a quick trip into town and my wife enjoyed meeting the family. Chris and his a/c were absent. My wife is insisting on a camping trip with a home base at 1L7. Chris, I look forward to meeting you and your family...I was on the ramp when my wife was at your home visiting.

Re: Escalante (1L7)

Nice to know a little history. We stopped in there for fuel and to wait out weather 10/11. We had just left Mexican Mountain, UT on our way to Grand Gulch Mine, AZ. A very nice place. The lounge was top notch. The courtesy car was used for food. Most of the places were closed that time of year. We found Nemo's. I will say a very good place for food..
Sorry we may have tried to take your truck #-o ...Then we saw the GM car.. The Outdoor BBQ area looked way cool..

Thanks Again

Sorry I missed you. I got to go back to Alaska for 10 days, so was gone the last couple weekends, look forward to seeing you next time.

No problem John, I think all of our cars have been used by visiting pilots at some point or another. And yes, the camp area is great, we use the BBQ/ picnic area and the fire pit all the time.
