Flying with Akaviator

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Flying with Akaviator

Big plans for this weekend! Heading to KPUW (where my 180 is currently) Thursday afternoon and hopefully launching for Alaska sometime on Friday. Direct to Kamloops to clear customs, and then north towards Prince George and onto Mackenzie to top the fuel tanks. The weather is looking great through the weekend so the plan is flying up the trench to Watson Lake. Flight plan is +/- 12 hours total and I like to plan as I go for layovers, plus that helps eliminate some of the "get-there-itis."

Second trip to Alaska in as many years. I could get used to this.

Picked up the 180 today. After an insurance satisfying checkout I loaded up and left the Palouse and headed for Kamloops B.C. to clear customs. ImageImageImage

Flying with Akaviator

After clearing customs and topping the fuel tanks I flew up through the Cariboo country of British Columbia and tied down for the night in Mackenzie. Vickie at the airport is just as awesome as everyone says, offered me ice cream, found me a hotel room while I was tying my plane down, and then gave me a tour of town and dropped me at my hotel.

Very nice! Is yours the same color or is the picture deceiving and making yours look ivory as well?

Re: Flying with Akaviator

While I like the safety factor of the bright yellow paint on my 180 I have to say that ivory and blue you've got is beautiful. A really smart looking plane and you're going to have a great time flying it I'm sure.

She does! She's on her way to Paris with a couple friends for a few weeks of vacationing in the city, and then off to hike in the Alps and Pyrenees.

Guys, you may want to hide this post from YOUR wives... :D
