Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

There has been a lot of money spent and a lot of work to be done, there is much to do, but the dream is still alive and moving forward. =D> [-o<

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

Hopefully they will be successful and develop more STC's for other aircraft. I'm sitting here with a new 220 and an MX-7 Maule waiting to mate the two together.

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

Why don't you contact Maule, or Jeremy to find out about a field approval, should be able to get the motor mount from Maule and also the nose bowl and baffling as they had the Franklins in the M4 and M5. Hey I might even have a cowl for you?
Not sure how the TC's read, but it might just be a log book entry?? There is no difference in the firewall from the4 to a 5 to a 7, and all the strut's are the same, wings will swap between.

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

I already have the engine mount and cowling. Still need a some work on the airplane. Just got put on the back burner. Maule was considering getting the Franklin approved for the newer airplanes last time Franklin looked like is was a go, then everything fell thru. Hopefully this time Franklin will be successful and Maule will do all the paperwork.

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

It appears things are still progressing. Here is an email sent to the Stinson group on July 4th.

THIS IS TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE CONCERNS OF MANY OF THE STINSON OWNERS IN THE GROUP.

WE HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON LOCATING THE LOCATION FOR OUR FACILITIES., , PEOPLE INVOLVED, POLITICS,FAA REGS, TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE POLES, SOURCES OF OUR PMA PARTS, EXISTING INVENTORIES. THESE ARE ALL THE PIECES OF THE PUZZLE THE BUSINESS PLAN WAS STARTED EARLY ON AND WE ARE HAVING TO MAKE CHANGES AS WE GO ALONG. WE REALIZE 5 MIL TO START IS TOO LIGHT. WE ARE UP TO 8 MIL.PART OF THIS WILL BE GRANTS, BONDS AND LOANS, SOME OF WHICH WILL BE PERFORMANCE ORIENTATED

WITH A PROFIT AND LOSS STATEMENT AND OUR PROFORMA ( CURRENTLY BEING REFINED BY THE SBA AT UNCC, CHARLOTTE), WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTACT OUR LIST OF MAJOR INVESTORS. IF WE HAVE OUTSIDE HELP FROM FRANKLIN USERS, THAT WILL MAKE OUR EFFORTS WITH OUR INVESTORS EASIER.

WE ARE READY TO FORM AN LLC, WHICH WILL BE EVOLVED INTO A CORPORATION AS WE APPROACH OUR INVESTORS.

OUR EFFORTS WITH THE FAA (BURLINGTON MA.) AND THE US DEPT OF COMMERCE HAS DIRECTED US TO USE A INTERNATIONAL LAWYER FOR DISCUSSION WITH THE POLES (ROMAN SADOWSKY) REGARDING PURCHASING THE TC'S OR DEVELOPING A LEASE (DOLLARS PER EACH ENGINE). CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR THAT LAWYER NOW.

SINCE WE WILL HAVE 750 DRAWINGS OF ALL THE PARTS FOR FRANKLIN ENGINES INCLUDING THE MILITARY AND HELICOPTER ENGINES, WE INTEND TO DOMINATE THE SPARE PARTS BUSINESS AND SINCE THE POLES HAVE PRODUCED NOTHING SINCE 2002 (9 YEARS),WE WOULD WORK WITH THEM AS A DISTRIBUTOR AS WELL AS THEM REALIZING A FINANCIAL GAIN WITH OUR LEASE, BEATS ANY THING THEY HAVE DONE IN THE PAST 9 YEARS. WE WILL USE HONEY INSTEAD OF CONFRONTATION..

WE HAVE A VERBAL AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE FRANKLIN ENGINE, FT. COLLINS, INCLUDING INVENTORY AND STC'S, ALSO SEVERAL INVENTORIES OF PMA PARTS IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS THAT WILL EFFECTIFELY ALLOW SUSAN TO OFFER THESE PARTS TO FRANKLIN USERS AT FAIR PRICES.

OUR R & D DEPARTMENT OF THE NEW COMPANY WILL EMBARK ON DEVELOPMENT OF A 300HP -350 HP ENGINE FOR THE LIGHT TWIN MARKET WITH OUR OWN TC. THIS WILL BE SUITABLE FOR SKYLANE, BONANZA AND OTHER HIGHER PERFORMANCE AIRCRAFT.. THIS WILL TAKE TIME AND MONEY TO DEVELOP A NUMBER OF NEW STC'S BUT WE HAVE TO DO IT.

CONCERN RE: ACCESS TO CESSNA (TELEDYNE - LYCOMING - BELL HELICOPTER) CONSIDER ALL THE OLDER CESSNA 172'S THAT COULD DRASTICALLY OUT PERFORM A NEW CESSNA 172 WITH OUR 220 ENGINE.. WE WILL OWN THE STC'S, SO YOU CAN BET WE WILL DO EVERY THING TO SECURE THE DATA PLATE FOR THAT ENGINE. WE HAVE NOT EVEN SCRATCHED PIPER'S SURFACE YET.

INSURANCE HAS A QUESTION MARK---ONE OF MY ASSOCIATES OWNED ONE OF THE LARGEST CASUALTY INSURANCE COMPANIES IN THE TWO CAROLINA'S AND WE ARE RESEARCHING THIS AT THIS TIME.

TWO VERY FRANKLIN EDUCATED A & P'S ARE BEING CONSULTED AND HAVE INDICATED INTEREST IN BEING A PART OF OUR ORGANIZATION

FOR THOSE WHO ARE ABLE AND WANT TO HELP US FINANCIALLY, WE WILL WORK OUT A PROGRAM TO REWARD THEM EITHER INTEREST ON THEIR MONEY,
STOCK IN THE NEW COMPANY OR RECEIVING PARTS FOR THEIR ENGINES.. WE DEFINATELY WANT TO REWARD THOSE THAT HELP US.

ANY ONE WITH FURTHER QUESTIONS, I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER YOUR EMAILS, OR FEEL FREE TO CALL ME 704 451 9807

MY REGARDS TO ALL OF YOU IN THIS DISCUSSION

GEORGE GILLESPIE

It does sound like Susan Prall is no longer apart of this start up, which is pretty sad considering all that she's done for Franklin engines.

Re: Franklin Aircraft Engine USA - BORN AGAIN

FWIW, I see some red flags in Gillespie's comments from a legal standpoint. For instance, I don't understand starting with an LLC, then "evolving" into a corporation, having "verbal agreements" (worth little) and there's no mention of complying with securities laws--in fact, some of the language is already skating on the edge of securities laws as he talks about rewarding investors and having a "list of major investors".

So I don't think they're getting necessary legal advice. I've always told clients forming businesses that they need a really good accountant and a passably competent lawyer--if these folks have either, it's not very obvious, and I sure can't see why they're looking for an "international lawyer"--if they need to deal with foreign entities, better to have a lawyer there and a lawyer here.

My 2 cents.

Any news on whether these guys have made the resurrection of Franklin really happen? Their website is anemic at best.
