FS: Zlin Savage Cub 100 h.p. LSA 2007 $49,900 (reduced)

2007 Zlin Savage Cub, Rotax 100 h.p., super fun plane. A wee bit of damage history, ground-loop, professionally repaired with new parts, photos to document damage and repairs, Lockwood inspection / repair of gearbox.

Very well equipped: New Sensenich ground adjustable prop, Dynon EMS-D10 monitor, X-Com radio, Becker transponder, electric trim, Garmin 496, modest tundra tires, V.G.'s, Matco tailwheel, Matco wheels and brakes. Total time is 300+/- hours since new, being flown regularly and time will increase.

If you are wrestling with building your own kit or buying and flying, this plane will have you flying NOW. Operated on non-alcohol 92 auto fuel. Burns 4.5 gallons an hour. Has two speeds: slow and really slow. It is a very fun, low and slow plane, that will cruise at 100 mph.

Cub yellow with Stars and Bars DECALS on the fuselage... some love them, some hate them, only a few in the middle.

Sale is being triggered by the marriage dissolution of the co-owner, bummer.

Hangar stored, Washington State, near Seattle.

Pictures are available, but I am a noob at posting, and gave up. (Posted below, thanks to Evan!)

Re: FS: Zlin Savage Cub LSA 2007 $60,000

Price is reduced to $49,000.00 and is also currently posted on Barnstormers with pictures.

Search Zlin Savage on Barnstormers.

Just in time for Christmas, and it will look nice under the Christmas tree!

Bob

(Oops, the price on Barnstormers is the correct price. I screwed up and put $49k, not the $49,900, sorry for any confusion.)

Bob,

Sorry to hear that you are selling. The appraiser called me to ask me some questions about my plane. If you want to email me the pics I can post them on here for you.

Thats gonna be a good deal for someone!

Someone is going to be very happy when they purchase this plane!! I personally like the 'Bars and Stars'.

I will definitely spread the word about your plane. Have you given any thought to buying out your partner and keeping it? Seems like a very nice plane to sell, something that you know and it will be hard to replace for what you are selling it for.

Re: FS: Zlin Savage Cub 100 h.p. LSA 2007 $49,900 (reduced)

The price was even more of a bargain as Bob agreed to meet me in Boise to seal the deal.
Bob is a class act. He refused to take a deposit because he said he would just give it back anyway if I didn't like the plane.
I'm looking forward to meeting him Sunday and loading my gear in the Cub for a 500 mile trip home.
Plan on stopping in Wendover to check out the "Con Air" plane.
The adventure continues!

That is outstanding! Sure looks to be a nice little cub.

Any ballpark guess on the useful load?

I should be so lucky.
The S-7 was sold several weeks ago when I received some disturbing medical news.
I had posted it for sale, "just in case". Expecting it to take a while before it sold.
I had a buyer in less than 6 hours.
Now a semi-clean bill of health and a new found desire to live each day as if it may be my last has prompted this new acquisition.

The adventure continues.

S7 <-> Savage Cub. Both tandem taildraggers 100hp Rotax (like free gas!). Give us a candid comparison when you get the chance.

Up north a drum of avgas can be 800 bucks, I want to burn what the snowmobiles burn.

Congrats on the good news and your new purchase s12! You'll love the Savage I'm sure of it!

The savage is a copy of the original "short tail" S7. Main difference is rounded wing tips and tail surfaces, no balanced elevators and ailerons (no spades) and mechanical trim vs electric. The new savages offer electric I believe. The airfoil is the same, flap lever is in a better (opinion) location and there is a single door rather than dual doors. But I know there are Savages with two doors and it is an option if you order one new.

I have very little time in an s7 but I can tell a big difference in the handling characteristics between the two. Swingle ferried mine back for me from Tennessee and said the difference in handling was apparent.

I am excited to hear your opinion of the two.

It's amazing how rounding off the control surfaces and painting it like a Cub seems to make those who may normally turn those noses up at a LSA salivate, such is the power of the Cub! Hell I find myself doing it.

It'd be like if the Smart Car people somehow made it look like a '55 Chevy, they'd sell a boatload. You'd think Randy S. of Rans would see the profit in coming out with a "commemorative" cub alike, but he is, and this is just me guessing here, a purist or sorts and doesn't see the need for his design to lean on another's reputation quite so much. Plus at this point, he'd be playing catchup.

Hey Evan, we have a new (used) one in my area, just like yours, about 30 miles away, I'll post a picture when I get over there in a few days. I'll admit to being initially somewhat put off the Savages by the fact they were so "inspired" by the Rans S-7, yours won me over, a pretty cool plane and of course it should be! Nothing really new in aviation anyway, and Dan Denny getting inspired by Dean Wilson (ripped him off) didn't stop me from buying a Kitfox instead of an Avid back in the day. That faux radial engine cowling sucked me into the Kitfox camp.

Glad to hear you're doing well S-12 and congrats on the new "Cub"!

Glad the deal went to a fellow BCP pilot.

Charlie is off to a great start with his new purchase! This plane is is very capable hands, and could not have gone to a nicer guy.

The little yellow bird will be missed, but I will live vicariously through his videos and posts.

Thank you to Zane for an opportunity to post this here, and a donation will follow.
