Rob ("Honey Badger"), that's really super cool. Being a normal guy, I would have never thought about making something like that out of tee shirts. Very cool. I want one. :D

Re: Good day BCP friends

Good morning to you all my friends. There is a bunch of on this morning. :D

Since I got diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago I have lost 40 pounds and had all the number good. A1C, cholesterol, weight. Over the last 3 years I have been going the wrong way and it was time to make changes in order to keep flying and stay healthy. In the last 2 weeks I have dropped 10 pounds. 15-20 more and I'll be good.

Here's to veggies, fruit, fish, and chicken. If it comes in a box, can or jar it is part of my problem.

Cheers...Rob

Good for you on the diet Rob. :D The easiest way to loose weight is by reducing your caloric intake. Sure exercise is good, but you have to run a marathon to burn off a Big Mac. Best not to eat it in the first place. I always tell people "food is a drug" and it affects everything to do with your body. Congratulations on your progress, and keep up the good work! 8)

Good luck Rob, since you are a pilot which usually puts us all in the " gadget man " category also, consider checking out the Fitbit @ www.fibit.com

It is pedometer on steroids which tracks your steps, sleep and a host of other bodily functions related to your health. It also nicely interfaces with a program called myfitnesspal @ www.myfitnesspal.com which you can use to track your food intake. Its food database is extensive and it can be used to scan a food bar code so you can input food quickly and easily. Besides the "gadget nature" of the system helps with the drudgery of tracking food and exercise.

Hey Paul: I'll check the links. I use a web site called Spark People. Free and taylors diets for different health issues like my diabetes. Calculates your BMI and how many calories to eat per day to lose up to 2 pounds a week. Plus every kind of tracker and reports you can imagine.

It worked 5 years ago when I lost 40 pounds. I have lost 16 pounds as of this morning, 14 more to go. This is when the real work starts.

I second myfitnesspal.com. They have an app that makes it super easy to scan and track your food.

And get hooked up with a Crossfit gym :D I drank the punch about three years ago and there's no turning back. It's amazing what the body is capable of doing. My 70 year old step mother in-law even does it!

Re: Good day BCP friends

Rob,

Sounds like you have a good program especially since it works for you. The benefit of Myfitnesspal.com (MFP) is that once you have your calorie target and other parameter IE sugars, sodium etc. you can set them up in the program and then if you are out and about you can bring up various food/menu choices ( or scan their bar codes ) on your phone to see how they fit into your targets, input your choice and monitor your progress throughout the day. It allows you some freedom to food plan on the fly. The cool thing about the fitbit is that in addition tracking your steps it allows you (via smart phone or computer ) to input any activities that require more effort than walking, like haying or repairing rentals and the like and then calculates the additional calories burned and automatically updates your allowed calories in MFP. So you do not have to be a "gym gerbil " which I think most BCP'ers would prefer not to be, and still get "calorie credits" for our busy lives.

The downside of course is that you will immediatly know the implication of the margarita(s) you are consuming. #-o Although after extensive testing I have found that as you increase the frequency and size it doesn't seem to matter.

I have found that to be true. It is all Garys fault. This morning down from 200 to 182. 12 more to go.

I saw that place on the air photos. Looks like a real nice grass strip! Curious if he allows visitors....
